Lingering Flu symptoms!!

Posted by Eleni on November 24, 2003 at 03:21:07:

I have had flu for the past 5-6 days now. Luckily the sore throat, runny nose have passed but I still have the slight aching bones but the worse is the stomach pains, constant pains in my tummy... at first I thought it was my gastritis playing up again, but it is not the stomach it is aches in my tummy. Can anyone suggest anything I can take? I have been taking Uniflu and Depon for the flu symptoms and of course echinacae, but the pains in my lower stomach are still there. Thank you for your time.

I wouldn't take much in the way of supplements - I'd think that if there is inflammation, not much is being processed anyway -
I'd stick to tea's which have supplements and also, plenty of water to detox.
It has to run it's course.

try organic aloe vera liquid from the health food store, 2-3 tablespoons every couple hours, apart from food.

Are you coughing? Maybe you pulled muscle. Influenza is usually respiratory and not having anything to do with the digestive system. I truly don't think you can take naything for influenza, I was always under the assumption you have to let it run its course.

Hi, Eleni.

The only things I know of that statistically have shortened the symptoms of the "flu" are: amantadine and esterified vitamin C to tolerance. Without treatment the average length of symptoms is 2-3 weeks. See the colds and flu archives.

Drinking lots of water does not shorten the length of these symptoms but does reduce the chances of a bacterial secondary complication--which is really the biggest danger of the flu.

Now comes the question: How sure are you that these symptoms ARE the flu?

I felt a sore throat coming on yesterday, and when I got home from work, put a couple drops of peroxide in my ears. They bubbled like crazy, and almost instantaneously the soreness was gone. I also gargled with 1/2 peroxide & 1/2 water. This a.m and p.m I put more peroxide in my ears and got minimal bubbling.

I have read about studies and testimonials that people with cold/flu need to try this when you 1st start feeling something coming on. It may help now.
