Dr. Stoll, I respect your work and I am preparing documentation on the significance of indoor humidity on health, and wanted to see if you could help me locate the publication that you referenced in your article on "The Cure for the Common Cold". I need the citation that supports this statement, "research shows an 80% reduction of viral infections in school children in schools with heating system humidifiers". Thanks!

Sorry, Colby.
It has been more than 30 years since I was researching stuff like this. I even made up Patient Education sheets that referenced articles like this to help my patients understand what I was telling them. When I moved to Florida my voluminous files were lost in transit and I no longer have them.
With the internet, now, it should not be hard fo track it down. It may be in the Heating and Cooling & Humidification for house construction department.
If you find it I hope you will share it and I will archive it. You are not the first person to ask for it.

This is not the article you cited, but perhaps a more comprehensive objective analysis:
"Indirect health effects of relative humidity in indoor environments." Arundel AV, Sterling EM, Biggin JH, Sterling TD.

Thanks, Colby!
This is not the one I had referenced in my patient education handout but covers similar information and was published about the same era as the one I referenced (late `70s or early `80s). The one I recall was slanted a lot more to the actual incidences of illness with & without indoor humidification, during the heating season, whereas this one was more slanted toward the pathogens.
Worthy of archiving, though.
Namaste`
