Before you end-up with Colon Cancer on down the road, I'd suggest that you order an herbal product called Corrective-A, which you can take for the rest of your live, if that's what it takes to move your bowels the required two or three times everyday. To order phone: 1-877-803-7337 - cost $20.00. Start out taking one capsule after breakfast with water and keep increasing that amount by one more capsule , until you're experiencing two bowel movements everyday. Do this for two weeks, then "ADJUST" the amount of capsules as you need them. Start drinking the required 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday because the Corrective-A needs water in order to work. * Rick *

You need to use a fiber supplement with both soluble and insoluble fiber. Preferrably one with lots of antioxidants and digestive enzymes. Lots of water, as well. Cancer starts in the digestive tract so it's very important that this system works well.

Hi desperate,
Diet plays a very important part in elimination. Do you eat lots of vegtables, and fruit, whole wheat(if not allergic) and brown rice. Foods that cause problems and constipation are processed foods, dairy, pasta, white bread and white rice. You can try the corrective A that Rick suggested, and here are some other products that also work. Cascara Sagrada, and herbal fiberblend. You also need to drink at least 2 qts of water a day. For me, I noticed that sometimes the above diet and fiber drinks dont always do it. Taking a good magnesium helps also. Go to the health food store and get some books on a healthy colon. There are alot of books on diet and juice fasts for this. You also mentioned you have a high ANA. I do too. But since I have changed my diet and started Skilled relaxation my ana is going down. Go to the glossary and look up LGS. The key is research, research research. Hope some of this information has helped you.

Hi Barbara,
Cascara sagrada is very harsh; don't take it. I did and had problems. If you want a good colon cleanse use Harmony Experience and Clear. It is even in your doctors PDR Book Edition 23. Once it is in the doctors books that is alot of credibility. If you have any questions you can email me crossroads@sprint.ca or call me. This colon cleanse changed my life.

I've seen the ingredient list, looks like a good formula. Why don't you give us the herb proportions so that we can make this fine product ourselves at home?
Also, cascara sagrada is used in formulas by hundreds of people with a lot of success. This includes me and several people I know personally. You are doing the herb and it's use injustice by bad mouthing it instead of giving full instructions for indications and dosage.
I am a little passionate about this because the EU has within the last few days limited St. John't Wort (for one that I know of) to be sold in pharmacies only and in the past has outlawed cascara sagrada, kava kava, lobelia and more because medical doctors say things like they are "too harsh", with little further evidence (especially compared with life taking/damaging drugs). It would be nice if we didn't nurture the same attitude in the states - especially within the herbal industry!
Just my thoughts

I agree with you, Thessa. I was surprised to hear Cascara Sagrada described as "very harsh," as I give it to my young daughter when she gets very constipated. When she takes a cascara sagrada pill she has an effortless, comfortable bowel movement, very easy, with no cramping. It's a natural herb and very mild and safe. I feel as passionate as you do about it - it's the best thing I've ever found for a quick fix. Like everything else, you don't want to get dependent on it, but it's great to use if you're trying to stay regular and you happen to miss a few days.

I've also had success with Cascara Sagrada. Like everything else, if you use too much is when it can be harsh. Seems to me Cindy is on this site to sell her products.

Hi desparate,
Because you have such a problem you might want to start with cascara segrada and see how it works for you. Use as needed.....start with 2 a day and see how it works. I use a liquid magnesium made by carlson. I understand that liquid magneseum is the best.

Hi there girl, have you ever tried Herbal fiberblend......I have been using it and having my youngest daughter use it. In the beginning I was using it only to help keep me regular, but then I read the ingredients again and found it has several healing herbs that are good for LGS. Here are the ingredients. Phyllium, black walnut, hibiscus, shavegrass, licorace, alfalfa, cascara sagrada, oatstraw, pumpkin, irish moss, yucca, passionflower, marshmallow, violet, witch hazel slippery elm, mullein, and capsicum.

Hi Everyone,
To back up what I said about Cascara Sagrada being harsh and the side effects; I will provide the below proof. Side note to Joanie, I had serious side effects after using Cascara. Before that I had cancer and found these other Herbs that I have talked about and they saved my life. They helped me so much I share them with everyone. When I became a distibutor I could then help others get them. Is it a crime to help people? Are not others sharing products that have helped them. I'm sorry but you hurt my feelings.
Cascara Sagrada has serious side effects especially in children. Alot of medical literture supports this; here are the findings:
Casacara Sagrada is a stimulant laxative. The antharanoid compounds of Cascara are carried unabsorbed to the large intestine where the active aglycon is released by bacterial hydrolysis of the sugar. The anthranoids are anti-absorptive, hydrogogic, and inhibit the absorption of electrolytes and water from the colon. The laxative effect is caused by an increase in the volume of the intestinal contents with the resulting increase in pressure and stimulation of intestional peristalsis. In addition, stimulation of active chloride secretion into the intestine by nitric-oxide-donating compounds or nitric oxide itself increases water and electrolyte.
This stimulant Laxative precautions are as follows
Contraindicated in cases of intestinal obstruction, acutely inflamed intestinal diseases(e.g. colitis, Chron's diesease, irritable bowel), appendicitis and abdominal pain of unknown origin. CASCARA DRUG is NOT to be administered to children under age 12. Cascara can increases risk of potassium depletion. It has increased side effect when person is taking Lanoxin, antiarrhythmic medications and increases toxicity of digitalis medications.
WARNINGS AND SIDE EFFECTS REPORTED IN MEDICAL LITERATURE:
Spasmodic gastrointestinal complaints can occur as a side effect to the drug's purgative effect. In rare cases, prolonged use may lead to heart arrhythmias, nephropathies, edema, and accelerated bone deterioration. Intake of the freah rind could lead to Europeon cholera, intestinal colic, bloody diarrhea(which I had) and kidney irritation. Long term use leads to loss of elecrolytes, in particular potassium ions.
Hyperaldosteronism, albuminuria, hematuria, inhibition of intestinal motility, and muscle weakness can occur.
Chronic use can lead to dependence. Casara used concomitantly with other herbs that are stimulant laxatives can increase the risk of potassium depletion. Cascara can reduce the absorption of some drugs due to the reduced transit time through the GI tract. Fresh or improperly aged bark(which happens often) can cause severe vomiting due to the presence of free anthrones.
Lastly The other side effects of Cascara is:
Confusion, irregular heartbeat, muscle cramps, pink to red, red to violet or red to brown coloration of alkaline urine; skin rash, unusual tiredness or weakness, yellow to brown coloration of acid urine, belching, cramping, diarrhea and nausea.
As you can see there are many side effects of Cascara.
I personally have found an alternative to harmful stimulant laxatives and it solved my constipation and digestive problems. It is not a laxative but a digestive clease called Experience. If any of you would like more info; please contact me.
Just trying to be helpful.
Sincerely,
Cindy Harris

Please forgive my skepticism. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. We have had many people over the years on this board trying to sell their wares, and I'm wary of anyone that advertises their own web site/products which to me means that they're just trying to make money and don't really give a hoot for the people they are so called trying to help. Perhaps you are the exception. If so, then I apologize. :o)
As for the CS, I have never taken it straight, only mixed with other herbs that I have gotten from Nature's Sunshine. It's a product called LBSII, and it works wonders for me. Seems to me if you take it in excess, then you would develop cramps and diarrhea, at which point you would need to cut back and then find the right dose for you. I am not currently taking it as I find that magnesium glycinate is helping me in that regard.

Thanks, Cindy.
Cascara sagrada was MY favorite laxative when I was a kid (surely a lot better than caster oil which was my mother's second choice). It tasted wonderful.
However, it IS a laxative and as a laxative has the same long term problems ALL laxatives have: dependence and problems with weaning one from their use.

Hi Cindy,
Although I am about to present a different view, it is not my intention to cause you any hurt feelings.
There is a time, place and person for cascara use, as well as dosage specifications and time limits to observe. My suggestion is that when we look to research herbs, perhaps we should include herbalists who have used the herbs themselves and are aware of how the herb has been used in tradition, along with a medical view, which you have provided. This will help limit propaganda from the medical community, and present a more well rounded view of the herb. (For example, the FDA will jump on an herb like cascara immediately, but will not even flinch on keeping over the counter laxatives on the market, which are much more devastating).
For example, Richard Schulze is an herbalist who has responded specifically to the claims about cascara being harmful and addictive. He has worked as an herbalist (and used cascara) for over 20 years and studied under an herbalist with 40 years experience, who studied under herbalists with years of experience themselves and on and on. His view is that the claims that cascara makes one dependent is ridiculous, and that with proper dosage tones the bowel muscles to help them work on their own and helps rebuild bowel tissue.
Now, I'm not making an argument here. There are plenty of herbalists camps who suggest caution with cascara use (but are nowhere near as doom impending as the above).
Part of the problem is that your listing above comes from using herbs as an approach in the medical paradigm, not the natural healing paradigm. Why else would it comment on its effects taken together with medications (which have no place in natural healing), and depletion of potassium, (which should be handled by the diet given with such herbs anyway)? (In other words don't expect to pop an herb and be healed like people expect to do with drugs).
About helping people, that's why I suggested supplying the proportions of the herbs so that someone who can't afford $40 bucks a pop can make it themselves. My guess is the company whom you distribute for would never let that secret out of the bag to even you, as they claim it is a "proprietary formula". In other words, if you want to get healed, you have to pay us money. As opposed to providing a convenience in case the person does not want to make it themselves. I make formulas at home and I'm guessing that this formula would cost me less than $10 to make.
best to you

Hi Thessa,
I agree with alot you said; especially the medical community toting counter laxatives like saviours and they are much more dangerous. In response to what you said about cost of the Awareness product Experience; it costs approx $17 to make and when they sell it there is a profit. The master herbalsist that prepares it together has had this recipe for over 285 years in his family lineage of master herbalists You can also get the Experience at half the cost of 40 dollars too.
Thessa,
All I know is 9 years ago I was almost 200 lbs, dying of cervical cancer, very impacted, tired and depressed.
These herbs saved my life; I lost 63 lbs, my constipation went away and I have been in remission for over 7 1/2 years.
With how I have recovered now; I would have paid more. Anyone can take a handful of the same herbs and put it together and not get the same results as this synergistic recipe (no offense) This company has not raised there prices on these organic herbs in 8 years. There cost of rising ingredient prices really affect there bottom line.
Anyway I don't want to sound so defensive; it is just these particular herbs reversed all my health problems and I thank God for them.
Thessa I really enjoy your messages on the boards these last few weeks; you have alot of good common sense advise and a sweet disposition about you.
Have a beautiful day, Thessa!
Cheers!
Cindy
