I'm a 20 year-old male who has had problems most of my life with constipation. About a year ago it became quite frequent, and I started using stimulant (ducolax) laxatives. I became dependent on them without ever realizing it. Now I'm taking quite a bit more than the recommended dose every day, just to achieve bowel movements and avoid stomach pain.
I've read the archives in regards to M&M combo for easing out of laxative dependence... but this wasn't mentioned to work for stimulant laxative users. Should I expect this to work? Should I speak with a primary care physician before doing anything? Or, should I attempt to ease myself off by switching to a non-stimulant laxative for a short period of time?
Any help would be great... I really want to deal with this before it becomes even worse.

Hi, Jay.
Yeah. It works for laxative dependency too. Those that fail do not understand how it works and take much too little fiber for much too little time. The colon has to learn to re-establish it's own regularity. In the meantime, till you get to the correct dose of fiber, for you, keep up the laxatives.
For now, get started on serious wellness since it will greatly shorten the time your colon needs. Let us know what you learn and how you do.
