For anyone who needs to put their child on a high fiber diet: Our daughter is sensitive to corn syrup and can't have pop tarts which she loves, so I came up with a delicious way to make them for her:
"POP TARTS"
Crush up store brand (I used Shoprite) 100% bran cereal.
Combine it with A LITTLE margerine or butter and/or a little oil and some sugar if you wish. If milk allergy isn't a problem, you can combine it also, just enough to make it kind of stay together. It will be crumbly.
Press half of the mixture onto aluminum foil.
Spread your child's favorite jelly on top.
Cover with the remaining crumb mixture.
Bake at 350 for at least 20 minutes.
Cut into squares.
Okay, they don't look like pop tarts. And I know they're messy. But they taste good and are extremely high in fiber!
If anyone tries this, do let me know how it works!
