Posted a while back regarding my off an on hemmorhoid/fissure problem. I'm 32 and have been suffering from one, the other, or both for about six months now.
I have checked in all the archives for both and honestly have not found that what I have read has helped me to understand cause/effect any better.
Per my "doctors orders" after seeing him quite a few times over the past few months, I am on suppositories (Nifediprin(?) and have just stared taking a supplement called HMR-X which helps improve micro circulation and strengthen capillaries).
Thankfully my Hem's are gone but these fissures are just driving me crazy. Here for a week, gone for a day or two..
I'm looking for some "live" thoughts or to hear about any one else who has been thorough this type of health issue. The archives are helpful to an extent but really looking for others who have experienced this and maybe some things that worked/did not work (avoidance's, etc..)

You might try Theraplex oil. Ask your pharmacist. It can be VERY soothing and even help heal. I know. I have had four children and had hems every time.

The only thing that will ALWAYS resolve fissures (if the diagnosis is correct) is stopping tearing yourself a new asshole (please forgive the graphic language but it seems the only way to get the point across) every time you have a bowel movement!
That means enough fiber supplement to assure soft stools EVERY time and enough mineral oil to keep what movements you do have slippery enough not to tear the skin.
All of this has been described many times in the archives about constipation.
You have to be successful with this for at least a month to resolve the problem. THEN, if you have a constipated stool you can still cause the problem all over again.
Let us know how you do. This is a TOTALLY unnecessary condition!

Hi, Scout - My husband suffered from hemorrhoids and fissures for years. The mineral oil (taken at night) and the Metamucil taken as often as necessary - keep increasing the dose until your stools are soft and regular is what you need. He still takes the Metamucil powder daily, mixed with water.
Try it, it will work!!! Raisa
