She was given 10 demerol pills by prescription, but I was told this can last up to 2 weeks... I am talking SEVERE PAIN HERE!! She is 15 years old, and is no cry baby... very high tolerance to pain, but this has me in tears with her.... Can anyone recommend anthing else to help her??? I know this may sound weird, and you are searching for answers, but she should really try doing relaxation exercises. She obviously isn't going to be going to school, so she has time.

I found it easiest to start with listening to relaxation tapes. They teach you how to relax. There are also some web pages I will put here to show her how to relax. You may think, what does relaxation have to do with pain? But, with Costo, relaxation has EVERYTHING to do with pain.

I promise you, if she lays down and practices these exercises she WILL feel better.

I recommend Bellaruth Naparstek's tapes, especially for a young woman. Her voice is very relaxing. Her web site is:

http://www.healthjourneys.com/

Below are some relaxation exercises she can try while she's waiting for the tapes. There are three sets of exercises listed at the bottom of the page. They are excellent in teaching relaxation methods.

Chosto is VERY stress related and if she can learn to relax those muscles that are in so much pain, she will feel much better, I know.

Hi, K.

I am surprised that, as long as you have been hanging out here, you do not recognize that this is bracing that has caused the costo.

Listen to Beth. The massage series or Rolfing will get rid of her symptoms almost immediately but she is going to have to practice serious SR to cure it permanently.

If she has suffered enough she will do this, if not....

Walt
