Walt,
I had posted earlier on the Plagiocephaly problem I had with my pallet/jaw and you told me to see a registered cranial osteopath.
In the interim I have been taking bio-cranial therapy. Do you know anything about it ?
The reason I ask is that my bio-cranial therapy Dr. says that getting localized cranial manipulation would be counter productive to what he is doing and might even exacerbate my problem.
I have had 10 treatments with the bio-cranial technique and got substantial improvement in my head, but as I wrote earlier, everything has moved to my pallette.
Having suffered a long time, my patience is low so I recently sought out a cranial osteopath as you recommended. I had an exam and she said that many of my skull bones had no or limited motion.
The ultimate question, should I continue with the bio-cranial work, stop the bio-cranial and do the cranial manipulation, or do both. It is a maze.
The bio-cranial therapist and the creator of the technique believe it is just a matter of time until the cranium restores itself naturally, but we don't know how much time that is.
Any thoughts or insights ? Thanks.
Thomas

Hi, Thomas.
My first impressioin is that the biocranial therapist has had long enough to prove his technique and is has only been a partial succcess. The fact that the real cranial theraptist still finds immobile joints tells me that the "tried and true"--more than 50 years of success--needs to be done.
I am not familiar with the difference between cranial manipulation and "bio-cranial" work. My guess is that it is an ofshoot butI would be interested in learning about it. In the meantime, you could ask THEIR international organization for a detailed listing of information about it and ask the Cranial Academy the same thing. You will likely be able to make your own judgement.

Walt,
Bio-Cranial Therapy was developed in Ireland, by an Osteopath, Dr. Boyd.
Basically it is a very deep stretch of the trapezius muscle. The deep stretch opens up the cranium and the rest of the center axis of the body. As it is opened up, it allows the body to move anything that is out of place or symmetry back into place. It is based on the assertion that most people's skeletal systems are out of symmetry. It may even be so bad that blood and nervous sytem flow may be restricted on one side or the other. This is basically a "whole body" approach that leads to wellness.
