Am just reposting some information I gave when originally discussing another health problem so that
Dr Stoll can archive this under dental info for anyone's interest. Apologies if any lack in clarity as I get tired posting/typing at present.
(Best Wishes for the festive season and your own health Dr Stoll)
First some background-since I started suffering from chronic illness it seems that my teeth (which had had no decay up until that point and it seems to run in the family that we have strong teeth genetically)suddenly seemed to be prone to needing a lot of dental work and a root canal. I then did a lot of research on the net essentially see if I could avoid having gum surgery where the gums of the teeth either side of the root canal seemed worryingly prone to gum disease. I found lots of info in order so that I could step up my tooth cleaning hygiene using an oral irrigator and hand syringes to deliver solutions to help dissolve plaque under the gum line( all this from only fromsites in the US where all the helpful info and products seem to be available- I certainly would have got none of this advice from the dentist).
I am still finding it difficult to carry out excellent use of these products though because of pain and weariness in hands and arms etc but a couple of other smaller changes I made seemed to have had a dramatic effect;
1. I started using 2 simple water quality improvement systems to my tap water. These(which were easier than a table top water distiller or under the sink filter)were using bamboo charcoal water filters alternately with a water filtering system called an 'Alkalark' (brand name). Both make the minerals in tap water change to a form most absorbable for the body and I think some other exciting things though you will have to research these as I am too tired to type all. I also took an absorbable form of magnesium which was indicated for my condition (fibromyalgia) but the water had been mainly because I had read any water I drink should ideally be non acidic for my interstitial cystis (bladder pain). So my body must have been getting the calcium and magnesium it no longer seemed to get enough of in my diet and possibly indicated in tooth regeneration- although if it was due to that then I assume more people than me would have their teeth regenerate easily.
2 In order to help with the more minor decay I had in my mouth so they could possibly recalcify I started using only products without any glycerine as I read that it could form quite a barrier on teeth with everyday use (which is most people I guess). One of the websites I trusted disagreed with this bit saying that glycerine was good for teeth in many ways but as I had already ordered some soap tooth paste(comes in shreds) I decided to trial that for a while as had NEVER used tooth paste or mouthwash etc without some form of glycerine. I really only hoped this might reverse the decay that starts in the outer enamel layer of your tooth where some dentists adopt a wait and see approach so was very suprised to feel with my tongue that new tooth was growing slowly - and I keep looking in the mirror everyday till I was sure I was not seeing things!. Unless I'm a fluke I'm hoping there is something in this for other people to try- believe it is the non - glycerine thing which was avery simple step. If you google tooth regeneration I realise you can get all sorts of info
including eating non pasteurised dairy etc but I did not even get round to changing my diet apart from the water! perhaps this should be listed under tooth archives if there are any?
Hope that is interesting,
Frances
