Dear Dr. Stoll,
I am a 44 year old male. For the last 20 years Iv'e shopped exclusively at health food stores and taken high quality food supplements etc. I do not drink, smoke or use drugs. I have no common Candida symptoms and never have. I also exercise regularly and run on a rebounder 30 minutes a day. For the past 8 months I have been experiencing week long bouts of what feels like intense anxiety attacks (?) that rip me out of my dream state every time I start to fall asleep. This happens for about 1 week every 4-6 weeks, then things slowly return to normal. I also get strange sensations in my upper left chest area. A holistic MD told be I had Post Traumatic Stress From a relationship breakup last January. I've never had health problems and I'm getting really concerned about this. I don't even think about my ex girlfriend anymore as I am past that chapter in my life. What is going on with me???

Dear William,
The only thing that can be causing this is early dysautonomia. This has been discussed many times on this BB for the past few years.
The only known thing that will finally resolve this is learning about the relaxation response & developing that skill by practicing it at least twice a day for 20 minutes. Within a few weeks you will feel better but it will take 6-12 months to resolve it completely.
In the meantime, you could get quick relief by getting a deep, whole-body, therapeutic massage 3 times a week for 2 weeks. This will make it easier for you to learn an effective skilled relaxation technique for you and will relieve your symptoms for a few months.
Let us know how you do.
Walt
