Dear Walt and BB Family,
I'm doing so much better! The tenseness is still with me, but I haven't had full attack in two months. I continue to take 1 gram magnesium a day and work on skilled relaxation. Because of an inner ear disturbance I can't use brain wave tapes (they make my head buzz), so my therapist created a tape just for me. I still have a lot of trouble quieting the inner chatter; my nerves are still jumpy. But, I am so encouraged with the progress I'm making.
I do have another question: I need some serious dental work done, and the thought of it makes me very nervous. I'm not taking any medication and am afraid I'll have an attack while they're working on my teeth (root canal and top wisdom teeth extractions). Is there anything natural I can use just to get through this first appointment since my attacks began.
Thanks again,
Carol

Thanks, Carol, for the testimonial.
I truly believe that testimonials convert more people to thinking than anything I can say. "Helping others move toward wellness is an aspect of our own!"
Having said that, I can only give you my wife's experience with couquering "dental phobia".
She has learned how to do "skilled relaxation" and practices it just before they start working on her. She now even does better than me. Frequently she opts to do without any anesthesia since she can not only control her anxiety but the pain as well.
IF you have checked out your skilled relaxation with biofeedback to be sure that what you do is effective, THAT would be the best thing I could recommend.
Walt

Dr. Stoll, Are you familiar with Thought Field Therapy (Dr. Roger Callahan)? I've learned a basic treatment for phobias, and it seems to help me get through the dental appointment without a panic attack.
