Herbal Remedies and Breast Feeding

Posted by Stacey on January 12, 1999 at 00:46:15:

I have been suffering from depression lately and was wondering if it would be safe to take St. John's Wort while breast feeding my 9 month old. I have tried researching the subject, but I cannot find any information regarding possible side effects to a child through breast milk. Are you aware of any concerns?

Thank You!

Hi, Stacy.

I am not aware of any concerns but I am not a good enough herbologist to advise you. There is a link on our link page to an Herbologist.

Please let us know what you learn.

In the meantime, remember what I have said so often: "The solution to any chronic condition will never be something you TAKE but something you DO."

Even if you DO get temporary relief of your depression from the SJW, if you do nothing about WHY you had it, it will be back. No one would think to suggest that any depression could be do to a "deficiency of SJW".

The best approach to chronic depression has been discussed many times on this BB. If you are interested, go to the archives.

Walt
