Hi Gregory - Do you know if regular infrared bulbs could be used and accomplish the same affect as the Firt? I'd like to build my own sauna, so any info that you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thank You! * S.H.A.P.E. *

I have been contemplating a suana for some time. IYO is infrared A-safe B-more effective than steam
Here is a claim from the site:
"Normal sweat is 97-99% water; sweat induced by Far Infrared Therapy is only 80-85% water. The rest is composed of environmental toxins that are being mobilized, some heavy metals, urea, cholesterol, and lactic acid."
Only 80-85% water? This hardly seems possible to me. Is it IYO?
Be well,
Sounder

Sounder,
I am not sure about the percentage water claim made. I have been told by my M.D., however, that a FIR sauna is a lot more effective than a steam sauna. Lower temps can be used with the FIR sauna to achieve the same results (much better results in my opinion). This makes the FIR sauna much more user friendly for those who have trouble with high heat(those with blood pressure problems, or heart problems). The heat is much more penetrating, allowing quick mobilization of toxins into the sweat.
Anyone who is going to use a sauna on a regular basis, needs to carefully monitor their minerals, and electrolytes. Be sure to replace what you are losing! Also, be sure to keep toweling off the sweat. Do not re-absorb what your body is kicking out.
There is a good book written by Sherry Rogers M.D. titled "Detoxify or Die" which discusses the FIR sauna in detail. It gives pre and post sauna techniques. One main point from her book was to make sure your body's detoxification pathways were primed before you begin a sauna program. You do not want to mobilize toxins in the body, if they have no where to go.
Take Care
