Detoxing from meth

Posted by Concerned on September 27, 2003 at 19:44:05:

Hi,
My new friend was formerly a meth addict. She is clean now but suffers with fatigue. She sleeps 10-12 hours per day. She doesn't have insurance.

Is there a natural way to cleanse the body and rid it of this garbage? What about chelation, like is done in mercury detox? Please advise.

Thanks.

I bet it will take a few months, AT LEAST. Partially, you're dealing with mental addiction (like if she had to do a line to even leave the house, then, she'll have a hard time "having energy" to do things like run to the store). She needs to re learn to self motivate. This takes a LOOOONG time. Be sure she eats very healthily. NO processed foods.

Hi Dr. Stoll,
She has been clean for 3 years, come January, with the exception of a couple of slips. (none in the last year, and both slips short term)

She used on an almost daily basis for about 6 years, and her usage was much lighter at first, but was close to 3/4 gram per day the last few years of use.

Thanks.

Boy, Concerned!

Listen to Ellie. I would strongly suggest all 3 legs of the wellness stool until at least a few more years have gone by. That much use has definitely changed her brain chemistry and homeodynamics permanently. It will take the above a few years to get her back to where she was before using at all. Even then she will be just like she was; and how she was allowed her to start.

That means: unless whe keeps it up she will always have a tendency to "fall off the wagon".

Hope this helps.

Walt

Concerned,

I would highly recommend the book "Clear Body Clear Mind", by L. Ron Hubbard. Although Hubbard is a bit of a controversial figure, this book is fantastic. He discovered what many environmental doctors are now using as standard therapy - sauna. Until the drug residue is completely flushed out of her body, she will experience cravings from tiny amounts of residue slowly exiting the body. She needs to completely flush her system clean. The sauna (a far infared sauna is highly recommended) is the only way to go. It is very important to understand the proper method to detox before you begin with the sauna. Read the above book, or "Detox or Die", by Sherry Rogers MD. Do not, under any circumstances, allow your friend to sauna detox on her own. She has to have someone there for support, and safety.

I drank fairly heavily for a number of years, before returning to a healthy lifestyle. I did the sauna detox to clear my body of all the crap. At numerous times, I would experience a completely drunken state in the sauna, as the alcohol residue was coming out. It was a bit scary, but it was completely effective. You can cut and paste the following website for more information.

Take Care

Dan
