I have had intestinal bloating for some time now. I heard that this cleanse can clear that up. Is this true? Are there any dangers? Thank

yes this is true. bloating can be caused by poor digestion because of insufficient bile coming from the liver. the bile ducts are often obstructed, so the bile cant get to the intestines to break down foods properly. (light/tannish colored stool is an indicator of this problem.)
i dont think there is any danger. there may be concern about flushing a liver before parasites have been killed, but Dr Stoll has said in the past that his patients did not worry about this and they were fine.
i haev done this cleanse twice now. after each time, my digestion has been improved for a few weeks, but falls back...the theory is that other stones/cholesterol clumps move up into the newly cleared areas...so a series of cleanses can be most helpful.

hi
you must have a smart nutritionist.
you know the cleanse can get more bile coming out for better digestion...but i like to think that your body does not make gas. only parasites (like candida) can make gas.
so thats a part of the equation too.

Can an olive oil flush dislodge stones that might get stuck and cause problems??? Is this flush safe to do??? I'm a little reluctant to do it because I have very little info on it. I haven't had pain in my gallbladder area but do have severe bloating and indigestion at times. Sometimes I get a mild pain in the right shoulder blade area. Any info appreciated!

ah yes, shoulder pain...linked to liver blockages.
the cleanse linked from our glassary is safe...dr stoll has had many patients do it with success. he had many people avoid surgery this way! a number of us around here have done it too.
the freeing up of particles is in part achieved by the epson salts opening up the ducts so the pieces can flow freely out into the intestine for excretion.
this version of the cleanse has been well thought out, very well tested, and quite successful. for more info on it, checkout hulda clark's book THE CURE FOR ALL DISEASES.

I've done the flush twice with no problems. I'm planning on doing it again soon. According to Hulda Clark, everyone has stones to a certain degree, both in the gall bladder and liver, so it wouldn't hurt you to do it to prevent eventual pain and problems later on.

Its just that I haven't read anything about what to expect during the flush process. I'm not a baby but I want to know... will this cause pain or any other symtoms??? I read some info that you need to take Ornithine (and what is Ornithine?) or you will have one of "the worse nights of your life"! So that causes one to wonder. Like I said I can handle pain well, but I would like to know what kind of possible symtoms to expect during the flush. Do some people with digestive problems have any problems with processing all that olive oil?? Thanks!

Grapefruit slows down liver function. I don't think that is a good way to clean the liver.

I can understand your concerns. In my experience, there was no pain. The first time I did it, the epsom salts caused my bowels to release before I went to bed. So at that point there's a lot of gurgling going on. That's pretty much all I felt. As far as the ornithine, that is supposed to help you sleep. I didn't need it. The olive oil just went right through me.
Be prepared to remain close to home that evening and the next day because you will be in the toilet a lot. Hope this helps.

hi
you should check out the hulda clark book. it will answer your questions.
ornithine is a common amino acid. it helps some people get to sleep. ornithine mops up ammonia in the blood and brain, which some evidence suggests is a trigger of insomnia. (parasites produce ammonia and if a person has had a parasitic problem for along time, there is probably too much ammonia in the body, so the thesis goes). that oarticular part of the cleanse is germaine to hulda clark's research...she has has found parasites to be a major problem for unhealthy people in ways that conventional medicine does not recognize.
the book will answer more of your questions.
In Reply to: Use the Grapefruit. It is included in the liver flush recipe and more than 500 people have sucessfully completed the cleanse. Don't worry about what you THINK is supposed to happen. It works and that's all you need to know. Don't confuse yourself with what if's...nmi posted by poster on May 04, 2001 at 12:05:04:
For instance the herbalist Mary Reed comes with this alert on her site (address below)
"The liver/gallbladder flush should not be done during gallbladder flair up or if the liver is weakened or diseased. It also should not be done if you are pregnant diabetic, hypoglycemic, or physically weak."
She sees a weak liver and a toxic liver as two different conditions. In the first case she suggests one should strengthen the liver before the flush.
I can thoroughly understand why some people are sceptical. Maybe their intuition is telling them that it might not be as easy as it sounds, even though they don't know why. That's why they want more information.
Actually, instead of suggesting 'go ahead and do it' it would be much more helpful if those who have done it described in details (like Joanie - thanks) their reactions and the results.
I find the belief that one cure can have identical effect on everyone a bit superficial (and sometimes downright dangerous). Good information is essential. That's what this board is about :-)

I think anything we try should be investigated or thought
hard about and if there is any question then more searching
done till we are comfortable with the situation. Not that I
am saying that things listed here can be dangerous but it
pays to be cautions but also not affraid to try things that
might help.

I agree with what you said and think it is a very wise evaluation. I have this kind of leery feeling about doing this and decided to investigate more and maybe find somebody locally to work with me on this that has some kind of knowledge about such treatments. Some time ago before I was having this degree of indigestion and bloat a Kinesiologist (sp?) perscribed large doses of wheat germ oil capsules for digestive troubles and I got terriable indigestion from it so if I got that reaction froma handful of wheat germ oil caps I'm wondering how on earth I will deal with all that olive oil??? I am following my gut instint to learn more before deciding to do the flush. Thanks for confirming what I was already feeling! (o:

Sonja,
when I was first injured my hounds got fleas for the first
time since I was chem sensitive and the smell of the
repellant i used to use was geting to me so I took them out
and didn't spray them. being so messed up and worried about
them i kept the hounds in the yard all of one of the hottest
summers we had. I got flea pills that were an organophosate
pesticide and every time i gave them I felt stronger just
handling the pills. The breeder of one told me to flush the
pills since she thought they killed one of her dogs from
liver damage. I wanted to try them but was affraid to even
though I was giving 3 to 50 lb dogs i was just too messed up
to be able to figure things out well and thought i could die
I kind of regret i waited 8 mo to try a bit of one pill
since I did learn that the chems Could work like the drugs
for a muscle weakness condition but in small amounts and in
large amounts could Cause weakness. I will never if I
could have avoided a lot of suffering and probably not and
maybe I would have just functioned better at the time and
might have caused More problems since I think my liver was
damaged from my injury and these chems affect it but at
least trying to understand what you are doing is Very wise
Especially if you have doubts or experience with something
similar and taking it Slowly if you do decide since even if
something is considered safe and you are allergic. Who wants
to suffer More and that may make you hessitate trying
that will work.
I read old time remidies for dog problems and one I think
is keroscene for intestional worms. I Thought about trying
it but with a chemical injury myself i decided against it
and Still have giant capsules I bought but never gave
because they have Toluene in them which is one of the items
that may have injured me but I kept thinking that they are
sold as a cure but I pictured the toluene flowing through
their bodies, liver and kidneys and decided to find
something I wasn't as worried about and might not have to
rush them to an emergency vet to have them treated and
possibly loose them or cost a fortune.

I had a difficult time with the flush when I did it awhile back. I used magnesium citrate in the evening prior to the grapefruit juice/olive oil instead of epsom salts - maybe it was this I didn't tolerate. I had SEVERE diarrhea and nausea with a great deal of belching / near vomiting before I even drank the juice/oil mixture. After I drank the juice/oil mixture I was supposed to stay still lying on my side but couldn't stay off the toilet for more than 5 minutes at a time it seemed, for a few hours. I ended up throwing up as well. I felt horrible, like severe stomach flu nausea. By morning after almost no sleep, I knew I couldn't swallow one more swallow of magnesium citrate without throwing up again. I tried drinking epsom salt water, but I couldn't it was SO bad. I wondered why I even needed a laxative since I was having such severe diarrhea already. I maybe passed less than 10 stones if I recall, nothing like the hundreds others have passed.
I've not been eager to repeat the process. I'm left with wondering if I did something wrong, if it means I didn't need a flush, or worse, if it means my liver / gallbladder is in such bad shape that it was almost more than it could take?
Sometimes I get tempted to try again, but I'm afraid to repeat the misery. I do have a lot of back/shoulder pain so could be referred gall bladder pain.
Maybe milk thistle is the place to start.

hi
the purpose of the epson salts is not for a laxative, but to trigger the opening the ducts wide enough so that stones can flow freely without causing pain from the liver into the intestines (not flow freely out the intestines). i would think that there would be no problem passing waste of this nature without any laxative.
having done the celanse twoce without such trouble, i bet you could do it better with the right ingredients! yes, the epson salts with water tastes alittle unusual, but you can mix ascorbic acid (vita c) powder with it. this form only of vitamin c has a distinct taste that helps hide the salts' taste.
my digestion was better after each cleanse.
good luck

...Trouble makes us look for the new solutions. We have to be daring and try thing out, but it is not the same as jumping into it blindfolded!
One thing is to take large doses of say, vitamin C, but the liver is something you don't mess about (whether its your animal friend's or your own - just the same).
Thanks Vince

Now Vit C bothered me while Ester C doesn't and helps. My
system went acid which is probably why and I was probably
compounding my problems if and when I took C and doing god
know what. I guess it is like someone telling me I Needed
C like I was told that the reason for my lack of stamina
was that i was out of shape and Needed to exercise. I was
Always one who would make a simple task harder to lern more
and get a workout. I prefer rebuilding a broken part on my
car then just replacing the part so I wasn't affraid of
work. I Wouldn't own Afghan hounds if I was so if I
exercised, something that Needed to be done would have to
wait till it was critical which would happen anyway and
even past critical.
