I recently started a new job and I only worked one day and the next morning I got a call not to come in to work cause they said I smelled like alcohol, This was very upsetting to me because I do not drink. I also Have Diabetes 11,
this is the only time since I have had diabetes that anyone has ever said this about me. What does this mean as far as my diabetes is concerned, does this really happen to people with diabetes? Any information on this subject will be greatly appreated.
Thank you,
Sylvia

Whatever the cause of the alcholic breath, I dont think you should be fired for this if its a health issue. I think you should go see your doctor, explain the situation, do the appropriate tests, and inform your place of employement that its a health condition, not inappropriate behaviour. Some kind of medical certificate from your doctor corroborating this should help.
Your employer shouldnt be allowed to get away with firing you, if they know the real situation. Get some legal advice ifyou have to. This is not on! Did you explain to them it may be due to a health condition?

Hi Sylvia - You need to tell your employer that you have a severe Candida Albican problem, which causes your body to release an alcohol smell, which is comomn with a Candida problem. I've heard of people actually being put in jail because they exhibited signs of being drunk. You need to detox your colon and start taking anti-fungal supplements and maybe even the drug Difucan for a week to help eradicate your Candida problem and stop eating anything that contains sugar or yeast. * S.H.A.P.E. *

Sylvia:
You need to get to a doctor asap. This is a classic sign that you're spilling ketones and going into ketoacidosis which could be fatal. They will test your ketone level. The sign of ketoacidosis is a fruity or alcohol-smelling breath...

Hi, Sylvia.
Normally, when a diabetic is far out of control they smell like fruit (ketones) and not like alcohol. People not medically knowledgable might mistake this smell for alcohol.
However, candida is very common in type II diabetics and candida converts sugar in the gut to alcohol. Totally eliminating refined carbohydrates might just totally change your smell overnight. However this is just the first step towards getting rid of the candida.
