Sorry am back again. Wanted to post my results and normal ranges. My sugar was at 84.9 normal should of been 130. I have had feelings of pressure in upper abdomen-really tired. Lastnight after supper I had a bad attack but I had a baked potatoe. I am really scared-go in for a fasting blood sugar tuesday. I was told my protein levels were good I eat lots of small meals thru the day. I am under stress but feel like I am ok with this now. My adrenals are ok. Would LG cause sugar problems? I want an upper gi series but my doc won't listen to me. Would anything wrong with stomach cause this?

Eating an improper diet for your metabolic type is what causes hypoglcyemia. I used to have it and got it under control by eating more protein (meat) and staying away from refined carbohydrates and starches. I dont' eat potatoes anymore, but stick with other less starchy veggies, not too much fruit, and meat - all whole foods.
It's more like sugar problems cause LG!
NOt sure what you mean by "protein levels" being good, but obviously something is out of balance or you wouldn't be hypo. What else did you eat for dinner?
As far as the upper GI series, I would stay away from any procedures that you don't need! they can do more harm than good, and it sounds like you just need to adjust your diet. Pressure in upper abdomen also means wrong diet.
What do you eat generally?

Why do you believe your blood sugar should be at 130? Seventy to 120mg/dl are usually considered normal. One hundred and thirty is elevated. A protein-based meal wouldn't justify you expecting your glucose levels to spike to 130, right after a meal. My blood glucose stays in the eighties all the time. If I got a level of 130, I would be worried.

Hi Denise,
Have you started the Whole Foods Diet yet to get rid of this issue? See the archives.
Best wishes,
Happygal

A simple cause of blood sugar problems is simply the overconsumption of carbohydrates. What are you eating? Cris is correct about the blood sugar issue

Denise,
Whoever suggestede to you that 130 was normal is not very knowledgable. See the diabetes archives.
20 years ago the ADA began to predict that, at the current rate of worsening blood sugar levels in the population, by the year 2000 half of the population woudl be clasified as diabetic. At that time the high limit of normal was 120. Their solution was to RAISE THE NORMAL LIMITS! That is how it got to be 130.
Just last week, all the newspapers were full of the new prediction that, even with the raised standards, more than 1/3 of the population would be considered diabetic by 2020.
Your level, considering it was done fasting, is perfectly normal!

Denise,
That makes it even more normal! Take a look at any book that shows normal curves of PP blood sugars.
Now, I am guessing that the doc didn't even bother to ask you what you had eaten and when. If that is true, in my opinion, this "doc" should not be practicing medicine!
