I really, really do! Its sad, I know, but I am having one of those days where I am thinking of all those trusty, ole foods that use to give me comfort when I needed it. Like chocolate, like hot chips(oh, to have some hot, french fries YUM!) I am sick of meat and veg. of having nuts as snacks, of having no carbs, of having no fruit, no dairy, no real "tasty treats".
Sorry, I just had to have my whinge for the month.
Bye. (Gosh, I feel a bit better now!) lol

Poor Miss Bliss. I know how you feel though. I miss my comfort
foods too. I've not given up all fruit and whole grains, but I do miss
potatoes, desserts, etc. Just now on the Food Network, Martha
Stewart and a man were making flavored Mayonaises and tasting
them with French Fries! Yum! Oh, that looked so good.
I'm snacking on a bit of soy cheese right now, and a couple of bites
of lentils and brown rice.
Why did you eliminate fruit was well, Miss Bliss? Can you have
not sugars whatsoever? Actually I should not have fruit either,
because I'm still dealing with Hypoglycemia.

Well, I just got finished eating some goats milk cheese, (eating it from a teaspoon) without any crackers or what not, whilst watching all this awful saga going on in Baghdad. I noticed when I got home and turned on the news, that the war on tele, seemed to push me over the "food" edge, and just create more stress for me and allow me to give in more easily to my "cheat" foods. I did cheat a little and had a blueberry muffin again, but that was it.
I also had a piece of steak, even though it was a bit tough. Geeez! Chomp! Chomp! Chomp! My mouth is a bit sore after that.lol
I also have hypoglycemia, and Candida. So I am not allowed any fruit, blew that just then though didnt I. And sugars feed the nasty verment called Candida. I cant have brown rice or lentils. They are too high in Carbs.
Are you on the whole foods diet?
I have to say tho that even with all my whining about the restrictions, my health has improved alot. My depression is all but gone, that I suffered with horribly just six months ago, my skin is zit free, no eczema (unless the weather gets really hot) my scalp is better as well, although my hair is still quite dry, maybe because its quite long now too tho. I have also lost a ton of weight though because of no grains/carbs. At the moment, I am hoping I can hold onto what I've got. :)
so far so good! I eat quite a bit of goats milk cheese and fat, as that really helps hold my weight. All in all, I rarely cheat, and most of the time find substitutes, but desperate times call for desperate measures. lol

It's not like you are an alcoholic, right? I mean, you can give in to a bit of your desire without killing yourself, right? I would think the stressing over it is worse than having a darn french fry!
Remember, though there are lot's of right-wing health people on this board, and I am getting to be one of them - I do feel that anything in certain "rules" is too ridgid. Unless you are some weak, frail person, I don't see how eating a this or that will knock you off the health circuit.

But you would be surprised at how much it IS like you're an alcoholic!
Because those of us who have these types of health problems also tend to have food allergies and addictions and/or have extreme metabolisms, it is really like playing with fire.
I fell off the wagon after a year and a half...it took time, but after one weekend where I let myself "splurge", my good, hard earned habits quickly eroded and all of a sudden, I found myself eating all sorts of things I wasnt' supposed to.
It has been a battle ever since to get back to feeling as well as I did for that time. I have since renewed my commitment and am back on the road to doing the whole 3-legged stool, but it's been probably 3 years of bobbling back and forth and fighting sugar and carb addictions all over again.
Just a thought from someone who's been there and is on the way back!

ahh I know what you mean ...
my diet is not perfect but its improved. I feel happy that I have improved it thus far.
I dont know; I think you try as much as you can and dont stress over it would be more helpful then stressing and feeling real guilty over having the occasional treat etc ...
I think you just got to figure that it will take longer to get healthy if you eat more 'not so good foods'.
I think if you have s specfic objective with food you should try to stick with it or if you are working on a anti candida diet you should stick with it. Or if you are allergic to certain foods. But if you are working on your health in general and trying to convert your foods to more natural foods then well ...
best thing try your best dont stress and enjoy life :)

Wow - I had no idea - now that for almost a year I've really cut out sweets from my diet, I don't miss them at all...and if I want one, I have a bit, not even the whole item - and it does it for me. Now, caffine, that's a whole 'nother ball game for me! I can't even think about giving it up all the way yet - it gives me chills to think about it!
Good for you for being able to finally bounce back - and I respect your struggles with it as well..

So Miss Bliss, what do you eat? I believe the cause of my symptoms are C -SR, but from what I've read on this board (and I thought my research was quite lengthy) I thought I could any type of whole food, fruit included. Can you please give me a run-down of the food groups you are sticking to? Thanks!

Hi, Miss.
Just remember it is not forever. Smokers, on the other hand feel the same way, as do alcoholics, but they have to give up THEIR "comfort things" forever.
The longer you are able to do this the easier it will be. Eventually this junk will no longer even taste good to you. Of course, your memories of all the "good times" will still drag at you but, when you actually try them you probably will not even finish the portion.
Good luck!
Namaste`

I'm exactly the oppostite. I completely cut out caffeine and it was the easiest thing in the world. I never miss it or notice the difference in taste in decaffeinated drinks. Now, if only I were that good about not missing sweets...
