Herbal Caffeine Alternative - Dandelion

Posted by Blissy on September 30, 2003 at 00:13:15:

Today I was out shopping, and the shopping centre was out of my herbal dandelion coffeebags.

There was this other one which was an instant dandelion mixture. But it had lactose in it. It only had two ingredients: Salt solubles dandelion
Lactose

I couldnt find any percentages on this.

As I am still pretty much on the Whole foods/Anti Candida diet, can I have this? I know dairy is restricted, and lactose is a product of that, but.....maybe?

Dandelion and gallbladder disease?

Just curious if you or someone else knows why but... my husband had a gallbladder attack last year and was told to avoid dandelion tea and greens. Too bad b/c dandelions grow well where we live!

BTW, the whole foods diet has helped him (and me) immensely.

Sorry, Blissy.

Separated from whole milk, lactose would trigger the Krebs cycle response for those on the PWFD until at least 6 months had gone by.

It's been 6 months since I started the whole foods/Anti Candida diet, Walt. So it looks like it's full steam ahead then?

Herbal Caffeine Alternative - Dandelion (How to add forbidden foods after 6 mo.)

HI, Miss.

The way to test stuff is to only try one forbidden thing at a time. If no negative symptoms within 3 days, add another.

There are 2 ways you can have a problem: 1. react to one food OR 2. overload your system with too much (or too many) stressful foods.

Let us know how you do.

Walt

So far I have added SOME fruit back into my diet, without a problem.
I have added small amounts of apple, strawberries, and blueberries. That's it so far. I dont want to push my luck.
I have mostly had the fruit in the form of fruit muffins, so its only a small amount.

Although, on the weekend, I ate about 4 fresh strawberries, and then had a strawberry smoothie with soymilk with another 4 strawberries in it. So 8 strawberries for that day. I think that was too much. In the middle of the night, I woke with phlegm sitting on my chest, trying to make its way up to my throat. I think it was from the soymilk. Doubt it was from the strawberries.

So far, the inclusion of fruit hasnt bothered either my scalp (first place to react from allergies) or my skin. And since taking the fish oil, my acne is almost 100% gone. I am taking about 1 gram of flax, and 4-6 of fish oil. Its wonderful so far! I am surprised that fish oil works better than flax for this.

I am also slowly adding grains back into my diet. But mostly its in the form of dark ryvita crackers (100% dark rye), and occasionally some brown rice, and beans/lentils. I am taking it easy on grains though, as I seemed to be very sensitive to them.

I am going to permanently avoid dairy products, also NO sugar. This feels natural now to me. Doesnt feel like an effort any longer to stick to the diet.

I wanted to ask what is your opinion of me including coffee back into my diet again. Its not that important, but would be nice to have a cup every now and then. I mean, dandelion tea is real nice but doesnt come close to the aroma of a freshly brewed pot of coffee.

What do you think?

Thanks, Miss.

Do you think the aroma might just satisfy without actually ingesting it :o)?

I think adding coffee, so long as that is all you add at that time is probably safe. During this time, you can learn what is helpful to avoid and what is not.
