i have a couple of questions about the whole foods diet that i would like to clear up.
1. the brown rice that is allowed, does it have to be the one that comes with the reddish husk?
2. dr stoll wrote an article that says that sugars in whole foods is different from refined carbohydrates since the food itself will contain the necessary enzymes or substances to break down the sugars. in that case, why is fruits in its whole form not acceptable?

In response to your questions:
#1. No, just so long as it is whole.
#2. Commercial fruits are so chemicalized, fertilized with chemical fertilizers and bred to LOOK great (regardless of any food content) that the ratio of carbohydrate to trace nutrients is too great for anyone who has a problem with their Krebs Cycle. Some people call this "an apple for the eye, not for the body". That old saying that "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away." was begun when only real apples were available (less than 200 years ago).
If you really want to taste how fruit is supposed to taste, go to an old farm with fence-rows and see if you can find an old-time apple tree that has not been sprayed. Let us know how one of those ugly knotty apples tastes.
For people with Krebs Cycle problems (nearly all of us by now) even these relatively wholesome old-fashioned fruits are too overbalanced. Once one learns what real fruit is suposed to taste like, they will not be satisfied with the commercial offerings. I am waiting for stores to begin offering organic, old style fruits.
Once health has been regained, I think an occasional fruit is healty. Of course, THEN, so is a candy bar :o).
