Vaginal Warts

Dr. Stoll:

I wanted to let you know that I did search your site and found a couple of answers to the subject of vaginal warts but wanted more detailed information. I just found out I had vaginal warts, I have been seeing my boyfriend for about 7 months and now, here I am. I am a little confused and I can't find concrete answers. I will have this for the rest of my life but once treated they may/may not come back? If I have the same partner and once he and I have been treated do we still have to wear a condom? How serious is this? I had a pap smear three weeks ago and it came back normal. Should I have one in 6 months as opposed to a year? If I am treated and he is, and we decide not to wear a condom, are we passing to eachother? I read my immune system must be weak, what vitamins should I take? Is stress a factor?

Whew, thanks, Doctor! Please give me some advice...

Michelle

Dear Michelle:

For what it's worth, I had them when I was 23 and I had them removed by laser and also used some kind of cream (I don't remember the name). It has never returned in the last 13 years. I have had several relationships between then and now, some of them using condoms and some not. I have also not had a bad pap in the last 13 years either.

I think if you don't get re-infected, your chances are good to not get them again. But it's a crap shoot. From what I've heard, many people have this and it tends to remain hidden in men. I will say that when I've practiced safe sex for long periods of time, I have generally been disease free.

Good luck!!!

Beth

Hi, Michelle.

I will try to answer your questions in order:

1. The fact that you have them at all is an indication that you may be genetically susceptible and might have to take precautions (improving immunity and practicing safe sex) the rest of your life. They are not hard to treat with conventional approaches. Your job will be to prevent recurrences.
2. You would have to have them recurrently OR over a long period of time to have an increased risk for the cancer that they may be associated with.
3. All research says that every 2 years is as safe an interval as every year for PAP smears. It was only lobbying by the OBGYN organizations that have covered up that fact (A bread and butter income producer for the docs.)
There is absolutely NO reason for you to have a PAP more than every 2 years.
4. This CAN be passed. However, it can be passed even before any lesions appear. SO, the only way to be sure is to use protection. If both of you practiced wellness, within 6 months, in the absence of lesions, I would (personally) stop worrying about it.
5. Stress is ALWAYS a factor. The stress vitamins and minerals are likely the most important but ALL micronutrients are involved. The only way I know of to GET all the micronutrients that MIGHT have an influence on immunity is to eat a whole foods, organic diet all the time. For the first year, at least, the best total food supplement you can find would also help a lot.

Let us know how you do. Hope this helps.

Walt

i had genital warts too...before i was into wellness at all...had to have SOO many treatments with pedophilin resin and the stronger stuff too...what was it...acetic acid based stuff ? i forget

they just kept coming back

i learned that there are considered to be now at least 150 known types of genital wart viruses. as many as 80% or more of all sexually active people under 35 in north america are infected, symptomatic or not...and many are indeed without the appearance of the warts.

i was lucky. i took treatment over the border in canada at a free clinic (gotta love semi-socialized medicine! well, kinda !) as i was there at that time.

the VERY first week that i removed processed food from my diet, the ever recurrant warts went away. and i have done the macrobitic thing since.

i ahve wondered about IV vitamin c to destroy these viruses...as well as the electrical current to kill them...

good luck

Thanks, Leon.

Isn't it amazing that so many people will not even try wellness (or even a whole foods diet) for their imunological problem? They would sooner spend thousands of dollars, and gradually get worse, rather than try something that takes effort and costs nothing while helping their total health at the same time.

Namaste`
