Walt: poster child update: day 87 of perfect whole foods

Posted by dfs on July 11, 2001 at 12:27:41:

I was feeling smug a couple weeks ago, thinking that I got by without taking any allergy medication during the usual spring onslaught of pollen, etc. And when the first round of heat and humidity, I remember thinking that it didn't seem so bad this year. And I cheated on the diet, eating some kettle chips made from "100% premium potatoes, sunflower oil and sea salt." And then wham! I got hit with a virus of some kind. Couldn't even drive to see Doc Kim across town. :( I've posted about that recently, so I'll digress onto other things.

In spite of the virus, the last few days I've had periods of time during the day when there was no anxiety, no compulsion to "do," no need to get things done. Profoundly moving. I'm about 2 months or so into SR, about three weeks of twice a day; I've been seeing color fields go by on my "black board" of vision; yesterday it was blue, today it was pink and green. I started using a "good" mini-trampoline a few days ago; what a workout, and in only 15 minutes!

I'm doing it at night, hoping it will help with my lifelong inability to fall asleep within an hour of my head hitting the pillow.

One thing that is still bothering me is dry patches in my right nostril. It doesn't bleed like in past years, it's just dry and taut, not really painful but uncomfortable. The dry patch has moved from one spot to another recently. Sometimes I think about rubbing in some flax oil or something. Any insights on that would be appreciated.

In my last update, I had a vaginal yeast infection, but at my doc visit/pap smear, other than scoff at LGS, she didn't prescribe anything or really comment on it, and my pap came back normal. Since then, the small discharge has subsided and returned during the virus attack and subsided; if it comes back again, I have visions of trying to rig up a douche syringe from the second floor that I saw Walt describe in the archives :) I'm not taking any probiotics; should I start? A few weeks ago there was a period of a few days when I had absolutely no irritation in the vulva
area; wow, that was awesome. Since then and the virus attack, it's been off and on, but mostly better.

There have been some whiteheads and acne-like bumps on my face that erupt and fade quickly; is that some kind of detox clearing?

I finally remembered to ask my mother about a sebaceous cyst-like mound just into my hairline on my left temple; I assumed I had had it since birth, but she didn't remember it, so it must be something that developed in my teen years. It's about a 1/4 inch round, in addition to the three that appeared in January of this year that are tiny and inactive. Besides the Multigenics Intensive Care w/out iron and Ester C (up to 3 grams a day now), I'm taking my flaxseed oil in the ratios described on the essential oils page, but I'm sure I will have to pay a visit to a plastic surgeon sometime.

Also, my lips are still quite sensitive, sometimes grainy and bumpy, and my putting calendula blossom/pure beeswax/goldenrod balm on them doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Is this something that will get better over time? Also, I'm wondering if my hair will ever go back
to the nonspikey texture of yesteryear. Does taking the essential oils address this?

I've been tempted to try a piece of fruit just to see what happens. From rereading the archives on this subject, I'm a little confused about when to reintroduce it into my diet. If I'm at the 3 month mark on the perfect diet, is that too soon? You suggested I wait until 6 months or so to kill of Candida if I have it, so do I wait til that mark? I'm also fantasizing about liberalizing. I don't seem to be able to find any criteria for that. Is that one of the things I'm just supposed to "know"? For me, liberalizing would mean being able to use honey, baking powder, molasses, etc. in Beth's recipes and those similar in philosophy. I think a glass of wine or a good cup of coffee would be tempting, but I don't think tempting enough to be worth throwing all of this hard work out the window.

So, questions in a nutshell:

1) Any insights on dry nostril.
2) Acne-like bumps some kind of detox clearing?
3) Sensitive lips something that will get better over time?
4) I'm not taking any probiotics; should I start?
5) Does taking the essential oils address spikey hair?
6) When to introduce fruit and when to liberalize.

Thanks in advance! I'm glad the board is back up. Hope you are too :)

Wow! Sounds like you have really jumped in with both feet. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you continue to post your experiences. About the dry nostril...I used shea butter in mine and it worked great. You might try that.

Hmmm till you asked that question, I didn't really know what it was. It was given to me by a holistic doctor when my sinuses were really bad and I had that dry crusty problem in my nostril. I just looked it up on the net and it says it comes from a nut in Africa and its great for skin problems. Hmmm maybe I'll have to try it on my wrinkles as well :)

I looked it up too - sounded like great stuff, so on my weekly trip to the health food store, I found a reasonably priced jar and it feels pretty good! I'm even trying it on my lips, which it feels OK on so far. Thanks for the suggestion!

How far along are you on the wellness journey? About a year or so? How are things that far down the road, like what do I have to look forward to? :)

Actually, I found this site last summer after turning into a yeast factory after three rounds of antibiotics. I tried the diet suggestions to help with the yeast but I think I was too far gone at that point for it to help much. In the fall when I went back to the states, I was given more antibiotics plus antifungals at the same time. They totally pushed me off the edge. I visited a holistic doctor for a month and did IV therapy. It helped tremendously and got me started on my road to recovery. That was in Oct/Nov. Then I came back to Holland and started the diet, exercise and SR protocol. The most difficult part is the diet...sticking to it. I do it about 80% of the time. The other parts are no problem. Since doing the protocol, I've noticed that my energy level is higher, my dizziness is gone, my weight has stabilized, mood swings are better, less sinus problems and less rashes. When I do cheat on the diet, I don't have as severe of a reaction as I did in the past. One thing that I still have the most problems with is constipation on and off which means my gut still isn't healed BUT its much better than when I started :)

Hi, dfs.

In order of your questions:
1. Vaseline on a Q-tip to the dry area. This will be a temporary problem as you get well.
2. The essential fatty acids will likely help this.
3. Same.
4. Probably would help.
5. Watch and let us know. You will be impressed.
6. 6 months AFTER your last break over. Each time you alert your immune system you have to start the 6 months all over again.

MY bet is that your "virus" was just an exaggerated hypersensitivity response to the refined carbohydrates and NOT a virus at all. This exact exaggerated response is documented in the archives about withdrawal. The more perfect you are with the diet, the more severe the reaction.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
