Who should go on Whole Foods Diet?

Posted by Miho on October 09, 2001 at 13:28:32:

I have been a regulare visitor to this site for 3 months
now and have read much about the above subject
along with perioral-dermatitis that I have (had.) I have
made many trips to book stores to research about diet.

After about a month of eliminating wheet and most of
glutton, yeast, refind sugar and alcohol, the condition
has greatly improved. I can say, the symptom is gone .
However, I feel that the desease is not completely gone
as it shows trace of the symptom from time to time -
not so obvious to others, but is to me.

My question is -- since so many books, websites, and
even within this site's archives there is contradicting
information regarding what is the best method for you;
Blood Type diet: As I am "Type A", I shall do well with
vegitarian diet and SOY is highly recommended, On
this site, there is a whole discussion about how Soy is
bad for you.. Whole foods diet recommends food that I
am "alergic" to based on my blood type. Some site that
one of your regular helper recommended says that you
should not eat grains at all.

Which information should I trust???

I guess since Dr. Stoll recommends Whole Foods Diet
the most, it may means that I should make my own
adjustment and not eat foods that I am alergic to,
following the WFD program. BUT should I need to go
that far? I feel that a lot of people that needs to follow
such strict dieting program have much more serious
problems than mine. My problem occured, since
moving to America, I had been eating pasta for dinner
almost everyday, bagel or muffin for breakfast almost
everyday for 2 years! And I had a lot of stress from work
and private life. I have always been thin because I
exercised regularly.

My other quetions are, to heal LG syndrom, do one
must to do WFD or concentrate on healing liver/kidney
by taking suppliments and practice SR? Also, how
effective is the Eat for Your Blood Type Diet that
encourage me to eat more soy and allow some glutton
such as buckweat, rye, and even sprouted wheat bread
-- this method is based on the idea of eating food that
doest not cause anti-body formation. Third, how long do
you think a case like mine will I need to practice such
programs? And lastly, if I do 2 weeks "complete" allergy
free diet (no sugar /refind carb), following 2 weeks of
not perfect but almost complete diet (meaning, I allow
some social dinning once or twice)every month, does
that make any difference than cheating once a week
every week?

Thank you for your advice.

Hi, MIho.

The answer to your question is "Whatever works for you." ALL of the dietary systems are just those that have worked for some people. Sometimes they have to be combined for best results. Your note says that you are beginning to understand that.

The PWFD (along with elimination of those foods you KNOW you are sensitive to) would be a good place to start. However, with both, cheating at ALL for at least a 6 months period will tend to obscure how important this may be for you.

Hope this helps.

Walt

If we're talking about the diet in Beth Loiselle's book.

I would not do well on that diet.
