I am on a nice whole foods program that includes potatoes. I suspect that I may have candida, and am wondering if I can continue my diet without 86'ing potatoes, and still balance my intestinal flora. I am sugarless, wheat free and 100% unrefined foods.

Hi Lynn - You want to be careful with the potatoes - they convert into sugar after digestion so don't eat more than one or two a week! You say that you suspect that you have Candida - if you want too you can email me at alternative.health@verizon.net and I'll send you a Questionnaire that you can fill out to see if you have Candida or a Leaky Gut. * S.H.A.P.E. *

Hi, Lynn.
IF you eat the whole potato it is OK since an uncooked potato is alive. You can cut it up with an "eye" in each piece; plant it & and each piece will grow. That means that ALL of the micronutrients needed for the potato to metabolize the starch in the potato are present AND that they are present for YOUR Krebs Cycle to metablolize it as well!
The smallest, red, new potatoes are the best since the ratio of peeling to potato is greatest. You will like the taste better too!
See the homepage article about sugar vs refined carbohydrates.
Let us know what you learn.
Hope this helps.
