Hi Dr. Stoll & all,
I need to loose weight quickly and was hoping someone would know of a quick way to loose weight that was relatively healthy? I am open to any suggestions...a big thanks!

Mel,
About the only sure means of weight loss is to eat less and exercise more. Sounds simple, but it is the *permanent" solution whereas the others are only temporary fixes. Bottom line is you have to change your lifestyle.
Good luck.

Hi, Mel.
Listen to Wayne. These are standard, and true, basics.
HOWEVER, there ARE things that MAKE us eat more than others and something CAN be done about them.
1. Remember, appetite does not just respond to calories. Every one of at least 100 micronutrients (more being discovered at least every month) can trigger appetite if they are in short supply.
To be sure we get all of them, we need to ONLY eat whole foods where these micronutrients are present----even the ones we have not yet discovered. EVERY time anyone eats anything refined, they are mainly getting the calories.
2. Next, diet inone thing, nutrition is quite another. Until stuff gets inside the cell, it is not nutrition. There are at least 5 major steps--from chewing it till it gets into the cell. At every stage the process of nutrition can be halted or at least altered.
3. Everyone with LGS (And in this country more than 50% of people have clinically significant lgs.) will not absorb at least most minerals efficiently. That makes at least 70 micronutrients they are likely to be insufficient in.
4. The metabolism in the liver--which every molecule that goes through the gut has to go to first--is very overloaded in people with LGS.
5. LGS is the basic cause of nearly all hypersensitivities and many of those stimulate appetite directly.
With just the information on this BB, you can address many of these concerns.
First, learn what a real whole foods diet is and get on it.
Second, start working with Robert McFerran on this BB for working out those foods that trigger YOUR appetite and eliminate them.
Use the archives, search engine and glossary (as needed) to find yourself around to these subjects. When you have more questions, write again.
For me, it is wheat and dairy. I have had a weight problem all my life and even with SR, exercise and almost perfect whole foods, I still struggle with it unless I eliminate dairy and wheat. Go figure.
Let us know how you do.
Walt
