I started dieting early last year due to just wanting to feel better and eat healthy. Now, I'm underweight for my height (5'10", at 130lbs. Is this safe? I feel pretty good, but is it good for me in the long run? I eat a lot of fat free and vegetarian food. Will it hurt me not getting any saturated fat or cholesterol? I rarely get any except for when I eat out, which is maybe once or twice a week. Other than that, it's mostly fat free stuff. I do take One a Day vitamin supplements. Is this enough, or should I get some fat in my diet. And if so, how much is healthy? Thanks...

Hi, Daniel.
Congratulations for thinking. You have no idea how rare that is.
To my knowledge, no one needs ANY saturated fat OR trans-fat. There is a vast difference between "diet" and "nutrition".
Your body makes any kind of fat you need IF you just have enough essential oils in your diet. See the homepage article and references. Just chronic stress-effect storage greatly changes how your "diet" becomes "nutrition".
You need at least 10% of your total calories as fat or you wil be unable to make hormones. This is why all the low fat diets, that actually reverse atherosclerosis ( the problem that causes nearly all coronaries and strokes) recommend a less than 10% fat diet. Your body would have to scavage fat from somewhere else (For example: the lining of your arteries.) or you would get sick.
This is also why, after a year or so, staying on a 10% fat diet is NOT healthy. Once all the fat has been scavaged, you need to increase your total calories from fat to 15%. That is the healthiest level known for the rest of your life.
Finally, healthy people are not fat. Nor are they skinny!
Following a "wellness" program will make you healthy. See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

Like Walt said, the body can manufacture cholesterol when needed. However, one thing he forgot to mention is that there are some types of fat you HAVE to eat or you'll die. Those are called the essential fats. They have to be part of your diet because the body cannot manufacture them. This is the main reason why fat-free or ultra low fat diets are not healthy. For more information, I highly recommend the book "Fats That Heal Fats That Kill" by Udo Erasmus. There should be some limited information in the glossary here, as well.

Thanks, Lincoln.
I HOPE I mentioned that the essential oils were necessary. If not, I am glad that YOU did.
