Douching embarassing moment!

Posted by Lynne [3516.1399] on June 17, 2005 at 12:55:52:

So I douched for the first time ever this morning, right before my gyno appt. Embarassing moment - when my doctor inserted the metal device, I splattered everywhere! Yes, vinegar and water. He asked if my bladder was full and I told him that I had just douched prior to my appt. He said it was ok and that as long as I wasn't doing it everyday, it would be fine for my balance. My question is, should I have douched the night before and peed to get all the vinegar out of...system?

Hi Lynne:

Very strange. I don't see how something like that could have happened. The vagina is not exactly a carrying case for liquids. Any liquid in there naturally flows out on its own without effort. Not to make light of your situation, but are you sure you inserted the device in the right orifice? Or, could your explosion have been urine and not the douche liquid?

My only concern would be that if the reason for your appointment was an annual, you may defeat the purpose by douching out cells that needed to be seen.

So true! You should never douche before a gyno appointment. Then the doc won't be able to see what kind of cells or bacteria there are in there. You don't have to be super clean to see the gyno. You want her/him to be able to see what's really there and not wash possible evidence away.

YOU should not douche before a gyno test EVER. YOu are disrupting your test results and the accuracy of them.

Lynne.

It probably means you were doing your douche correctly. HOWEVER, NEVER douche just before a pelvic examination!!!

It just tends to hide the signs the doc is trying to look for!!

Retention of douche solution is common and you will soon learn how to dispose of any retention right after the douche.

I can't remember where I saw this in the last couple of weeks, but it was a women being interviewed about her most embarrassing moment. She had had a gynie appointment, and cleaned herself up with a face flannel in a great hurry ahead of the appointment. She couldn't understand why the gynie said 'my goodness, you have gone to some trouble' when he was inspecting her private parts.

She only realised when she got home and cleaned up the bathroom, that the flannel was covered in party sparkle - her daughter had used it to wipe up a spill of multicoloured sparkle around the washbasin before going clubbing. Can you imagine the embarrassment (AND LAUGHTER)at presenting with 'party makeup'!

Hi PhillyLady (long time!)

Actually I've had the experience of bath liquid being expelled quite some time after a bath...

Hi Jane:

Really? I wonder how that happens. I've never had that happen by just sitting in bath water. Would the body somehow act as a suction device and draw water in?

I've heard this one before Jane(1), it's funny! I think Michele was the one to post it. Anyway, I can't imagine what the doctor thought she might have really been doing with her privates...

You're welcome Janey. You very well might have heard it elsewhere, these jokes and stories circulate through various mediums. But if they're good like that one, I don't mind hearing them more than once, yours cracked me up!

Hi Lynne,

I haven't read all the replies but I did read some a few days ago. I agree that you shouldn't douche before an exam because it can wash out cells that should be there when you have the exam. I don't use douches at all and I wouldn't unless my doctor said I should for some reason. They aren't even necessary if you have good hygiene.

Hi Gals! It's happened to me, too, both from a bath and from douching. Some of the liquid just seems to stay in there and leak out later.
