Severe itching and burning in legs during exercise

Dr. Stoll,

Beginning approx. 2 mos. ago, 10 minutes into my 20 min. warm-up walking routine my legs would begin to severely itch and burn so badly that I would have to RUN home and douse them with cold water and stand in front of a fan. My legs would remain hot to the touch, but with no rash for about 2-5 min. The pain is so intense that on two seperate occasions, I have caused myself to hyperventilate. The pain is the same sensation I have gotten in the past when I have run outdoors in very cold weather. Therefore, I have tried exercising at night (when temperatures are cooler), during the day (during hot weather), but it doesn't seem to matter. I have tried lotions, sprayed my legs with water before exercise, shaving, not shaving, etc. It doesn't happen all of the time, but I can't find a common link to the occurances when it does happen. I am 29, atheletic, 120 lbs., and have been working out all of my life. I would like to find a cause to this hinderance. Anything you can suggest would be helpful. Thank you.

Jenn

Hi, Jenn.

This is a form of dysautonomia that affects the superficial circulation.

The solution is serious, certified, SR for about a year. You will begin to see gbenefits within a few months.

Let us know how you do.

Hi, Jenn,

I know exactly what you mean. I have this in my arms when I am in severe pain from a medical condition which was misdiagnosed as interstitial cystitis but which turned out to be a major abdominal muscle tenseness thing.

Fortunately for me, the "interstitial cystitis"(sic) is beginning to clear up with intensive physical therapy, and so the burning arms is much less also.

You mentioned trying lotions. I have very dry skin, and have also found that consistently using a moisturizer after each bath seems to help reduce the occurence of burning arms. Every little bit of discomfort/pain reduction probably helps to keep from triggering this.

So I think the doc is right - destressing has to help.

Who knows for sure if this will help, but in the BioChemic Handbok of Tissue salts-it say Calc.Phos -is a mineral lacking; The book is only $1.25 at health food store, look up your symptoms and see what they say, might be another path for you; I know Bernard Jensen says buring feet is a lack of Magnesium in his books; Try stretching also for your legs!
