Update on progress at a year

Posted by Sheridan [10940.4819] on November 26, 2008 at 04:34:26:

Hi Dr Stoll, Ron, Jan, Hopeful and all those who have helped with information in the last year or so.

I have now been doing the 3LS nearly perfectly for a year. I now exercise 6 days a week:swimming over 1.5k a day and do yoga twice a week. I eat only fresh foods mainly wholefoods but some of my diet restrictions and elimination diet for salicylates and amines has had me eating white rice on occasion with a little maple syrup. But I have eaten fresh foods cooked at home for the last year and shop at only growers markets now. My whole family is better for it and I have a new kitchen with a steam oven which has realy improved my repetior (I still cant spell). I also meditate every day at least once but because of the medication : Lyrica 75mg X 2 a day, Elavil 5mg, and Hydrozxyine 10mg X 2 a day sometimes I cant stop nodding off. But generally I am so much more relaxed and calmer about things.

I still have pain but it is much more tolerable in my bladder and less now in my feet and teeth. Apart from that if you saw me you would say I look very fit. The pain clinic believe that from here "this is as good at it will get". That I have a neuropathic pain syndrome and it will wax and wane and I have to deal with it. Two of the best specialists have told me this.

I am still hvaing accupunture and councilling for the pain management side of it. My pain is not so much burning now but annoying nerve irritation. I finally had the courage to have a cyscoscopy and they found a perfect bladder that when filled with anesthetic gave me no symptoms for two days so my diagnosis is a hypersensitivity of the bladder nerve endings probably caused by a series of bad UTIs I had several years ago.

Anyway I just wanted to say thank you to everybody that encouraged me. Despite what the specialists say and despite still having to be on these drugs probably long term my life is so much better than when I started the 3LS when my pain was intolerable and the burning was slowly eroding my mental health.

I can accept the fact I have pain but I can hope that it will continue to improve. And by doing the 3LS, having councilling, accupunture, diet to eliminate irritants and now taking VSL#3 etc I am doing all I can.

So I have learnt you must not give up and despite pain you can become more active again pacing yourself into it. MY question is do you think these chronic neuropathies can resolve or is it just a problem you live with?

Don't think you have to accept " This is as good as it well get." Say on the program and you will continue to see improvements. The body has it's own pace at recovery and healing. Give it another year and then access where your at.

YES, they can resolve themselves. Now that you're feeling better, start seeing yourself as "well" and don't look backwards at what you don't want anymore.

Can't wait to hear next year's update....but hopefully by then, you'll be enjoying life so much that you'll forget to come back here and let us know :-)

Hi Sheridan,

Thanks for your progress report and I'm so glad that you're doing so much better than a year ago.

Truthfully, I would never give up on trying to heal the neuropathies. I'd keep on doing the 3LS. The body has amazing powers to heal itself and sometimes you just reach critical mass somehow and things shift. I'd try to add the other SR session to your day. Also try doing self-hypnosis to work on any residual pain that you have.

About the neuropathies, be sure to get our book about the nervous system and dysautonomia when it is available. I plan to include in that book everything possible about how a layperson can help his or her own nervous system. Things like taking supplements can be of great help for neurotransmitters and there are likely many other self-help things that can be done. It'll likely be a few years before the book is ready. I have a few other projects to do first before I can get to it. We've gotten a few volunteers with Stoll Foundation that are helping do some of the routine work, but since I am working full time doing massage, and still packing and shipping book orders, plus the non-profit, there's not a lot of time left for writing and publishing. But I will keep plugging away at it because I know there is a need for a book about the nervous system for laypeople.

Keep us posted about how it is going with you. And congratulations on your successes!

Best wishes,
Jan

Thanks, Sheridan.

Listen to Jan, Tabby and Steve.

At one year (of the 3LS), with the kind of problems you have, you have only scratched the surface of the improvements to come if you keep up the 3LS.

Let us know how you are doing in another year. Your docs who say "this is as good as it gets" have more surprises to cone!

Walt
