Hi Dr Stoll, Ron, Jan, Hopeful and all those who have helped with information in the last year or so.
I have now been doing the 3LS nearly perfectly for a year. I now exercise 6 days a week:swimming over 1.5k a day and do yoga twice a week. I eat only fresh foods mainly wholefoods but some of my diet restrictions and elimination diet for salicylates and amines has had me eating white rice on occasion with a little maple syrup. But I have eaten fresh foods cooked at home for the last year and shop at only growers markets now. My whole family is better for it and I have a new kitchen with a steam oven which has realy improved my repetior (I still cant spell). I also meditate every day at least once but because of the medication : Lyrica 75mg X 2 a day, Elavil 5mg, and Hydrozxyine 10mg X 2 a day sometimes I cant stop nodding off. But generally I am so much more relaxed and calmer about things.
I still have pain but it is much more tolerable in my bladder and less now in my feet and teeth. Apart from that if you saw me you would say I look very fit. The pain clinic believe that from here "this is as good at it will get". That I have a neuropathic pain syndrome and it will wax and wane and I have to deal with it. Two of the best specialists have told me this.
I am still hvaing accupunture and councilling for the pain management side of it. My pain is not so much burning now but annoying nerve irritation. I finally had the courage to have a cyscoscopy and they found a perfect bladder that when filled with anesthetic gave me no symptoms for two days so my diagnosis is a hypersensitivity of the bladder nerve endings probably caused by a series of bad UTIs I had several years ago.
Anyway I just wanted to say thank you to everybody that encouraged me. Despite what the specialists say and despite still having to be on these drugs probably long term my life is so much better than when I started the 3LS when my pain was intolerable and the burning was slowly eroding my mental health.
I can accept the fact I have pain but I can hope that it will continue to improve. And by doing the 3LS, having councilling, accupunture, diet to eliminate irritants and now taking VSL#3 etc I am doing all I can.
So I have learnt you must not give up and despite pain you can become more active again pacing yourself into it. MY question is do you think these chronic neuropathies can resolve or is it just a problem you live with?
