labrynthitis

Posted by dianne on April 30, 2001 at 08:21:45:

Please, anyone with any information on labrynthitis!!!!!! I was hit hard last week with it. Couldn't stand and walk and the vomiting was atrocious. I'm dumbfounded with this "virus". Is there any chance of recurrence or will it go away and stay "gone"? If there is a really good website out there, let me know. My e-mail address is dgero@hotmail.com.

High doses of ester C will knock out the "virus" and if its not a virus, large doses of an easily digestable magnesium supplement should help the inflamation of the nerves in the inner ear. I had both intravenously and they helped tremendously!

Thanks Barbara. I'm going to try the ester C. My doc says it's a virus, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have an elderly aunt who is stricken with labrynthitis and the last time she had it, she was in bed for 3 months.

Yeah I was on the couch for weeks with it. Make sure you take HIGH doses...up to bowel tolerance. Good luck!

Hi, Diana.

I am sure you are familiar with the old joke about doctors: Everything they cannot explain is caused by a "virus".

There has never been any proof that any case of labyrinthitis is caused by a "virus".

Docs just say that since nearly all resolve themselves within a couple of weeks and no known conventional treatment makes any difference.

It is the recurrent and persistant cases that something CAN be done about.
