Some help for my son?

Posted by Sari on September 08, 1999 at 15:10:38:

Hello everyone,

My son was put on antibiotics, Bactrim, one teaspoon every day for three months because he has chronic ear infections.
I am not comfortable with this, but he can't seem to stop getting the infections.

What can be done? If they put tubes in they will only fall out, maybe before the winter when infections are worse.

Anyone know what to do? He is almost two years old.

Regards,
Sari

Have you tried a chiropractor? It's the only thing that worked when my 8-year-old daughter had a sinus infection that kept her out of school for three weeks with a low-grade fever. It's a lot easier on the body than repeated antibiotic treatment.

Hi Sari...This one i believe i can help you with only because i've been there. My daughter is 4 1/2 and has had ear infections for EVER. Actually began in infancy and guaranteed at least every six weeks maybe sometimes a little longer would have that PINK STUFF (antibiotic) in my fridge. But when your baby is screaming (usually ear infections happen at nite-how wonderful) and you just can't help them you want immediate relief for them. So the next day good ole doc gives you prescription for the PINK STUFF again. Finally this past February i got sooooo fed up with this continuous pattern. My daughter again woke up during the nite in excruciating pain - next morning fever of 103 degrees only this time i didn't go to the pediatrician i took her -fever and all to a CHIROPRACTOR. I opted for a "NETWORK CHIROPRACTOR" which is a technique which is very gentle. (I have posted a few questions about this technique) Well whatever this Doctor did "IT WORKED!"
All i know is the pediatricians were talking tubes being placed in her ears and this Doctor explained to me that all the antibiotics were doing is temporarily stopping the ear infections but not GETTING RID OF WHAT WAS CAUSING THEM> It did the trick Sari honestly. And he was so nice to my daughter made her feel comfortable and she just laid up on the table face down and just loved going there for the next week. I only took her about 6 times. I will take her back. every few months for maintenance or if the ears ever act up she'll be back again. The chiropractor also said something very interesting. My daughter had a severe reaction to her first DPT shot. Don't know if you've read how some children actually died from the pertusis part of that vaccine. He said that reaction may have triggered the weakness in her ears. Who Knows. My main concern is "IT STOPPED THE EAR INFECTIONS". My insurance company also pays for 30 visits per year for each of us. Needless to say my whole family now goes and i'll tell you --- You feel wonderful walking (or shall i say gliding out of his office) Please try it for your son. No one understands better than me how terrible it is to watch your child in pain. Also she was starting to have reactions to the antibiotics such as rash on her body. NOT ANYMORE>.....GOOD LUCK TO YOU>>>>>>

My Godů my son too had a reaction to the first DPT shot. Vomiting, high fever. How can that be related? This is very strange coincidence! What does the chiropractor do, for ear infections? I don't understand at all, please kindly advise. We seem to have a similar problem. I am tired of giving him medicine, as you said it is only putting away ear infection, not the cause because they keep coming back.

THANK YOU!

Another mention of chiropractor! Please tell me what you know, what do they do? I do not understand how one could help with ear infections. How? But it was worked for you two. It's very strange to me! I just want my baby to stop taking medicine. His doctor wants him to be for three whole months, this to me is not correct, not a healthy practice, but I need to stop the ear infections.

Please tell me what you know, I thank you very much!

Dear Sari,

All research in the world (for the past 10 years) has shown that there is no place for antibiotics in the treatment of otitis media. The fact that conventional docs still use antibiotics for acute otitis media and, worse yet, the chronic use of antibiotics as your child is being subjected to, is a black mark against conventional medicine and their monopoly.

Finally, most otitis media can be resolved by a good Chiropractor even when it is due to allergy. You might put a note on the BB with Doc Dave's name in the title to see what he would say about this.

More than 90% of the cases of recurrent otitis media in children is caused by food allergies and the vast majority of those are dairy allergy. Nearly 90% of all recurrent otitis media in chilodren will cease within 4-6 weeks of TOTAL elimination of dairy in the child's diet.

Surely trying that would be worth your while. You would find more notes about this in the link to the archives I have prepared for you below.

Let us know what happens.

Walt

New question now: if I remove dairy how will he receive calcium and nutrients? This is very big concern for me because he is a very picky eater and will not eat many good foods.

Thank you very much again,

I only just remembered, he did not start having cow's milk until he was one year old. He started getting the infections prior to that, first one at 4 months then continual until now, 2 years. Maybe not dairy allergy?

Hi Sari...Glad i can be of some help. My chiropractor said it could be related to bad reaction to DPT.. Now i really believe him since you are claiming same thing. My daughter was lethargic and tired and "limp" and had a high fever for days after the DPT. I refused for her to have any more. She had DT shots only thereafter. The doctor agreed (I had just watched a program 20/20 about how some children had died or became autistic from this shot, however alot of children do not have severe reactions but most have SOME). She just went for her kindergarten checkup and i had to obtain a signed form from her Doctor that must be sent to the state i live in stating that she had a severe reaction to DPT and now only receives a DT shot (diptheria and tetanus minus the pertusis part). State must accept this but i did have to submit the Doctor's verification of this. But anyway ( sheesh can i talk or what). Please take him to a chiropractor if possible a "network chiropractor" this is a method that's very gentle using certain points on the spine. If you tell me the state, city or even just the state and county i will give you the name of one in your area or several and you pick the one closest to you. Give it a try really. Watch you won't have that antibiotic in your fridge anymore. You have nothing to lose but that bottle of crap. Oh, in answer to your last question - what does the chiropractor do for ear infections in my case he cures them. I also have sent several friends with ear infections, sinus problems, childhood asthma, allergies to a chiropractor also with "FANTASTIC" results. I used to get sinus infections. NO MORE>>>>>...Give it a try...

MKH,
Thank you very much for reply. I am very sorry for what happened to your daughter. I am very happy she is okay now. It's terrible when there is something wrong with your children.

One of my co-workers, she just called me, this is such a coincidence. She is taking her twins to chiro due to their reflux symptoms and it is helping. They are not cured but she can see they are better. The chiro is her cousin, she is referring me to him. He is a little far away, 40 miles, but I feel better that she knows him so it would be worthwhile to travel. I could not believe when she said chiro, I tell her someone else just told me this. Could be fate?

My son's doctor also stopped the DPT and gave only DT, when I told of reaction. It was very bad, high fever and vomiting, a lot of vomit.

"sheesh can i talk or what" You are very funny! That's okay, I can talk a lot also.

Thank you again,
Sari

Sari,

Remember that the world medical literature has agreed (for many years now) that antibiotics do nothing for ear infections (otitis media).

Thanks, MKH.

Your testimonial will help people trapped in this merry-go-round to start thinking differently.

Recurrent ear infections are simply not necessary---other than to prop up the doc's income.

Hi, Sari.

Please go to the archives for calcium below. Dairy products are a TERRIBLE source of calcium. Only the propaganda by the dairy industry perpetuates this fiction.

If you still have questions after reading all the stuff on the link below, please write again.

Sari,

The only thing I can be sure of is that LGS is even what causes the dairy allergy. Since he almost had to have LGS for his first recurrent infection to happen, it is likely that he is at least sensitive to something other than dairy. However, since your docs did not know about the LGS (most still do not), nothing was done about that.

The dairy after a year of LGS would be a setup for continuing the problem even though he likely has other sensitivities. The second most common is wheat, then soy, then corn, then peanuts or eggs. I am not exactly sure of the order but this is pretty close.

For his infections to have been so recurrent, this is the only real possibility on which to base his causes.

In children, they only have to have LGS for a pretty short time before thy have frank C-RS so that is likely complicating his condition right now. However, STILL elimination of dairy and wheat would be VERY worth while. You would know in 4-6 weeks if he was a a lot better and THEN, let us know what you still need to know to resolve the LGS and C-RS.

Until that is dealt with, eliminating the dairy and wheat will only solve the problem for a year or so until he developes hypersensitivity to whatever you feed him to take the place of the dairy and wheat------BECAUSE the problem is really not the sensitivities (even though that would be the quickest way to stop this) it is the LGS which will take, in his age group, about 3-6 months to resolve.

SO, you really have no choice, unless you are willing to keep him in a plastic bubble. You have to deal with the LGS and the C-RS. There are really good tests now for both of these things so, if you need a lab test to be convinced, they are available.

Hi, Sari.

I just remembered: did you nurse this child and did you eat dairy while you nursed?
