EAR WAX / VACUUMING. SAFE???

Posted by Dixi on April 06, 2003 at 01:46:30:

My doc suggested that I have the ear wax vacuumed out of my ear by a specialized doctor.

Is this safe? It seems as though it could cause damage to have suction that close to your ear drum.

But what do I know?

Maybe I'll try softening drops first and see what happens.

Thanks

Dixi

Hi,
I would consider using ear candles to remove wax and debris from the ear cannal safely. This procedure is inexpensive, and said to be very effective.

It seems this is an expensive way to remove ear wax. Is it giving you problems? My chiropractor told me that the ears and eyes is the main entrance for germs, colds etc. that get entrance into your body. I don't know if this is true, but it seems that thru the winter I don't try to get the wax out of my ears totally, and I haven't caught anything. Just luck? There has to be a reason for earwax....

My daughter used to work in an ENT's office. I'm pretty certain he only recommended flushing procedure.

Hi, Dixi.

The purpose of ear wax is to automatically remove dust and foreign debris from the ear. The only safe way to help this process is to put in the ear wax softening drops , wait a day and use the soft syringe provided with the kit with the drops, and syringe out the wax. I have never heard of using suction and no one would get close to MY ears to so so.

I like this methoid and have it done once a year with using three candles in each ear; I've done it for others, this ear candleing and it is amazing what you can get out of them. Really some dark wax and very hard stuff that even plugs up the candle; There was even a bug that came out on one person. You can purchase candles at the health food store with great directions.
