I have had this same problem for 12 years now I dont have any hearing loss and occationally when i get a cold my ears get plugged. Since I was 8 years old my ears have constantly been poppong weather i would be eating, yawning, moving my head or just not doing anything at all they will still pop I hold my nose and inhale to get them back to normal. I have to do this many times a day. I have seen doctors and they tell me all different things from having air bubbles in there to having fluid in my ears. Well i dont have fluid in my ears because the doctor gave me nasonex for that problem and i still have the popping could it be from my parents smoking or could it just be from something unexplainable. This problem is driving me nuts. And I am getting kinda scared. Any ideas to what this could be?

You could have a deviated septum, that is, one sinus cavity is partially blocked leading to an inner ear imbalance. Do you get any dizziness?
Many people have a problem with this. I find that when people get regular chiropractic adjustments, this problem tends to subside.
sometimes, when I get a cold real bad, my ears will get plugged up too. Here is a remedy that really works:
When you are experiencing symtpoms, put 2-3 drops of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide in each ear and let it sit for a minute or two. Then drain. A new theory suggests that the cold and flu can be transmitted through the ear canal and can lead to an inner ear infection. Ear infections respond quite well to chiropractic, hydrogen peroxide, and taking care of your immune system through diet and supplementation. For some people, it is necessary to have the deviated septum corrected. It is easily diganosed by an ear, nose and throat doctor.

Hi, Heather.
There are 2 possible causes: 1. Allergy (COULD be from the parents smoking) OR 2. TMJ
Of course it could also be a combination of these both.
Use the archives about allergy, ears and about TMJ. THEN, of you still have questions, write again.
As you get over this, I hope you will share your experiences with the BB so as to help others. Go to the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.
