Has anyone else had problems with an itch in their ear that just won't go away. My left ear, inside the canal has been itching for at least a year. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Dwight,
I had been having the annoying itch in my right ear for quite sometime, but I just noticed that it had stopped. I don't know what causes it, but maybe if I did, I could tell you how I got rid of it. Sorry for not being more help... maybe someone else can answer our questions. Good Luck!

Hi, Dwight.
The most common cause is eczema of the ear canal (usually bilateral though). However, inspissated ear wax can also cause the sensation. Hydrocortisone ear drops, used occasionally, will help the former while you are looking for the cause and vigorous syringing of the ear canal will remove the latter.
It will take a doc looking into the ear to tell the difference.
