fluid in ear?

Posted by ear girl on September 21, 2001 at 11:37:35:

my right ear has been blocked for months now... it never cleared up after a head cold. would ear candles help my
problem? it sounds like fluid is in my ear still because when i press on it, it crackles. i'm wondering if anyone has
any other suggestions?! i'm also wondering if i have damage to my eardrum? would i be able to hear the
crackling of fluid if it has, in fact, been damaged? i appreciate any advice you could give me! thanks

Hi, Ear Girl.

Get an anatomical cutaway picture of the ear.

Candeling is applied to the outer ear which is developmentally totally separate from the structures behind the eardrum.

Actually the layer of the drum inside is totally different that the origin of the layer of the outside of the drum.

YOUR symptoms are typically due to continued blockage of the eustacian tube and THAT is always related to allergy. The most common allergy is to dairy and the next most common is to wheat.

See the archives about ears and about allergy.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
