Hey Dr Stoll
I was busy looking up a specific strain of cancer that a relative of mine has just been found to have in her esophegous (they are now calling it adenocystic carsinoma but that is about the third name they have given it) and while I was doing so I came across information on EBV. Not knowing anything more about EBV then a few twisted facts that the doc I was going to rattled off to me while I was being diagnosed with it about 7-8 years ago I was under the impression that it wasnt really that bad... and for the past few years have felt guilty and hypocritical about being tired all the time and just always feeling not with it, my relative was also diagnosed around the same time as I was with EBV and after reading up about the links between EBV and various kinds of nasal throat and breast cancers such as Nasopharyngeal Carsinoma I am wondering could there really be a link between the 2 in her case??? She found out 5 days ago that she had the tumour in her throat and that it indeed was malignant and she is schedueled to have it removed tomorrow, the cancer is around 7 inches long and the doc's say that they have never really seen anything like it, she will be having a large portion of her wind pipe removed and then replaced with a section of her bowel, plus removing her voice box. I wish I had of stumbled across this information earlier on in the week so that she would have had the oportunity to speak to her oncologist about this... is it something that you think she really needs to be discussing with him?? and also why is that so many doctors know nothing about EPV when it seems to have such a high link to cancer. Any information you can give me would be great I have so many questions running through my head and at the same time shocked and appauled that I was never made aware of this information earlier by any doctor that I have ever seen or spoken to about EBV they all either say that it comes after you get glandular fever ( which I just found out is wrong because as you know it causes it) or that it is just another name for chronic fatigue, and it will go away. I am glad that I found your site and its BB so that I was able to read up on other ppls personal experiences with EBV although I still think there is alot of myths out there I think you are on the right way to setting them straight... Thankyou!

Hi, Amy.
In MY opinion, the EBV is not the cause of the increased susceptibility to cancer but the increased immunological susceptibility INDICATED by the presence of the EBV.
A diagnosis of EBV should be a warning to the patient to get real about a wellness program BEFORE something worse happens--like the cancer your friend has. Unfortunately for all of us the allopathic paradigm does not include this philosophy.
SO, the doc who makes the EBV diagnosis says to the patient something like: "Nothing can be done, just go home and live with it!"
