Lyme Disease Vaccine

Posted by Tony on January 29, 1999 at 22:13:45:

I was just wondering if anyone has any comments or experiences about the lyme vaccine.

Living out on Long Island where the disease is running rampant, I was just trying to learn more about it, to see if I should consider getting it. I love to be outdoors, and I don't think I need lyme disease to go along with the rest of my problems.

Thanks for the input!

Tony

Hi, Tony.

My guess is that none of us will know the answers to your questions for 10-20 years yet. In the meantime, NO ONE who practices "wellness" can get Lyme's Disease.

An intact immune system is MUCH more powerful than the organism that causes Lyme's. Why do you think that this is suddenly so prevalent? Why do you think that there was reported 5 more conditions just like Lyme/s in the past year alone? Are we evolving into a new race or is something happening to the average immunity in the population???

Think about it.

Walt

Really Dr. Stoll? It makes sense to me, and it would be great to think that, but a huge amount of people are getting it here on Long Island, and it is definitely related to where the deer population is highest, which is also the most affluent and healthiest parts of the Island.

But if what you are saying is true, what about people like me who's immune system does not seem to be functioning too well. Would you say the vaccine would be worth it, or just keep up with the wellness and take my chances?

Thanks.

Tony

Hi, Tony.

Remember, just because I try to call your attention to immunity as the govening factor, depth of EXPOSURE is also a factor.

Pastuer spent his whole life documenting the invading organism while Barnard (a contemporary) emphasized the "territory" where the organism took root (the immune human). On his deathbed, Pastuer was heard to say: "After all, Bernard was right. It is the "territory" that is most important!"

SO, on Long Island, where there is a higher exposure, there will be more cases. However, everyone has the same exposure. WHY DOES NOT EVERYONE ON LONG ISLAND HAVE LYME'S?????? It is NOT just because they have not been bitten yet!

IF one is going to improve their immunity, and puts action into doing that, why NOT consider the vaccine as a way to artificially prop up the protection to this in the meantime? Just recall that there are literally hundreds of other things out there just waiting for you to be a "straggler from the herd". Are you going to hide in the basement until a vaccine is found for each of them? Even if you COULD, what about the things we don't know about yet?

The only rational answer is to improve your wellness. Of course, that makes no money for the conventional medical paradigm so you will not see it promoted.

Walt
