EBV

Posted by Christina on February 07, 1999 at 13:16:31:

Dr. Stoll,
I first got mono about 5 months ago. I got good bed rest and got over it. I went back to work and back to the gym. I started out slow and at much lower levels so that I wouldn't overdo it. I seemed to be okay, plenty of strength and energy. I started to get tired so I stopped going to the gym and went to bed very early every night, but I got sick again. Last week I was diagnosed with the Epstein Barr Virus. I am a little frustrated and confused. I am 22 years old and know I can have a long and healthy life, however, I want to be a deputy sheriff. Is that possible? I am already on the department as a civilian employee in L.A. county and have a promotion to go to custody on hold, pending a medical. The EBV titers are elavated at this moment. For the promotion I have to go to the academy, where there will be physical training including running at least 3 miles. Going to custody is the next step to becoming a deputy. Will I be able to physically handle this? I have read some of the BB posts and I admit that Im a bit discouraged. From what I've read and heard, I feel like I will have to give up my dream of being a deputy. Is that true? Right now I just need an answer so I know. I'm sure there are other careers out there that I could love just as much, but I seem to have found my calling in life and if I don't have to give it up, and if there's is some chance that I can fight to save my dream, I want it. Please help me to at least come to some kind of conclusion.
Christina

Hi, Christina.

First of all Mono is caused by the EBV. The fact that they are now saying that your symptoms have anything to do with EBV proves that the reason you got it in the first place is EXACTLY what we have been discussing on this BB for years.

This is a MESSAGE your bodymind is trying to send you. The solution to it is for you to become a serious student (AND PRACTITIONER) of "wellness".

The resources you need are on this BB almost anywhere you want to look. If you want to learn easier, a copy of my book would be the place to start since it also gives the specific references for anyone to go as far as they are willing in each of the areas that are effective.

IF you are not willing to do the wellness thing, you probably are doomed to a life of chronic illness and spending a lot of it in doctors' offices getting tests. You will have to give up your dream. If you do the wellness, you will likely be the healthiest recruit in the bunch.

Take your choice.

Once you have the above informaiton under your belt, if you still have questions, write again.

Walt

I just spoke with my doctor and he said the same thing. There is something else that is causing my current sypmtoms...nauseau, fatigue, stomach pain, chest pain, and no appetite. My family has a history of thyroid problems so I have to go get that checked. It is a bit frustrating not knowing, but my attitude is getting much more positive with the more information I receive. I would like to thank you for helping me to come to terms with this and understand that my dream is not lost and still achievable. I do have one other question. A few of the deputies at my work said they saw a program about Hepatitis B vaccinations and the bad effect that they have had on some people. That it caused some people to get very ill. I got mono shortly after the second series shot. I started out with a fever of 104 and my face and eyes very swollen, which the doctor said was caused by my liver enzymes being 4 times the normal level. I had to wait until they went down before I got the third shot. Not long after, I got sick again. Is it possible that I got sick from these shots?

Dear Christina,

LIKELY, since you would be more likely to have a bad reaction when your immunity is already down.

As you get healthy, I hope you will share your experiences with the rest of the BB. There are lots of people out there who are giving up their future because they do not know that they have a choice.

Walt
