I was just recently diagnosed with the ebv virus my blood work showed eb virus (vca),IgG at 1175. What does this number mean, according to my doctor I have acute ebv virus, is this the worst it can get?? What I mean is I really dont feel that bad a little tired and unmotivated I hopeing that if this is the worst then future bouts wont be as noticable.

Hi, corr.
"Acute", in medical parliance, means short term NOT "severe" as many people think.
The other end of that word is "chronic" or long term.
Acute EBV is commonly called mononucleosis and the chronic form is called chronic EBV.
We have discussed the causes & solutions to these conditions MANY times on this BB for years. There is no reason for anyone to get them at all but even if they do, there is no reason for them to have it more than a few days.

What he is actually telling you is that you have the MILDEST form of this it is possible to get. You need to get into the habit of not leaving the office until you get ALL of your questions answered. If your doc won't talk to you, you are going to the wrong doc. Just think of the unnecessary anxiety you have suffered because you misinterpreted what he said to you.
