Dr. Stoll, Meaning of lab results for EBV

Posted by Matt on February 18, 1999 at 09:49:53:

I took your advise and looked for my self on the net to find out what the lab meanings are. My last lab result for EBV said "recent infection". Here is how the labs looked

EBNA Negative
IgG Positive
Iga Negative

Lab notes "recent infection"

Both my Doc and the lab are not correct that I an getting better. According the CDC A posiitve IgG and a negative IgG after with a negative EBNA after 4 weeks of infection (which is way past where I am) still means a current infection for EBV. If The Iga was positve I would have mono. IT just goes to show they lack of knowledge in this area. If the EBNA was Positve I would be cured.

Just for general knowledge if someone with EBV want to know.

Dear Matt,

Remember, you are supposed to be treating a person NOT a lab test.

This BB is repleat with information as to why people feel bad & have positive EBV titers at the same time. If this were me, I would forget about the lab & just do what will make me well.

Walt
