Vitamin C and ebv

Hey Doc,
Both my mother and I seem to have an allergic reaction to Vitamin C. She has MS and I have eczema on the soles of my feet and less so on the palms of my hands. The doctors first told me it was dermititus then psoriasis and now eczema. I have had it since I was a child and it went away for about 5 years 19-24 then it came back a little bit at a time. It now gets worse and subsides but never goes away totlally. Right now I have no insurance and was diagnosed as possibly having EBV. I dont have the money to get the EBV test but my doc says it could be a sign of leukemia and I need testing. I am experiencing swollen lymph nodes in my left groin and slightly swollen in my left armpit. My throat is swollen also. I have fevers that get high 103.7 and then break a day or to later. I am also quite fatigued. I was hospitalized a few years ago with dehydration due to these same symptoms and I was told it was mono. I also had mono when I was 11 years old but it did not hit me that hard. I constantly get strep throat(at least twice a year). But back to my reaction to Vitamin C, both my mother and we seem to get skin irration from it as well as cold symptoms for 24-48 hours. I am currently watching my Yellow no.5 intake to see if it affects my skin condition. I aam currently out of work due to a fractured dislocated finger that required surgery because it started to heal. So iam out on wokers comp and I have no insurance and I am not allowed to work to get insurance. Sorry for babbling on. Thanks Doc,
Greg

what are all the ingredients of the vitamin C you are taking?

You can't be allergic to the vit. C itself, so it must be another ingredient, or you're taking enough to start some kind of healing reaction...

I am not taking any as of now, but I was taking plain chewable Vitamin C along with a multivitamin. I also seem to be allergic to Orange juice and other products high in Vitamin C. I now take my daughter children's chewable vitamin because it has less Vitamin C and less Iron than an adult dosage.

Chewable C is about as good as a piece of candy...

you probably don't remember exactly what the ingredients were, either. :-) This only reinforces my suspicion that you are reacting to something in the pills other than the C.

There is a lot of info on this site about Esterified C, which is most readily absorbed by your body. You need to do a little research on vitamines...also not everyone needs to supplement!!

Good luck,

Hi, Greg.

Now that you are out of work, you have a lot of time to LEARN, which in the end is the only long term solution to your problems. What you cannot find on this 'site you can find on the internet and what you cannot find there is free at your local library.

Listen to labrat (Thanks, labrat!)

Since you are destitute, at least medicaid would pay for a lymph node biopsy to rule out leukemia. Get cracking on that!

Wellness costs you nothing but effort. What else do you have to do, right now, with your effort?

Because of my worker's comp check, which is very low but puts me over the line to receive medicaid. I am trying to scrape up the money for CBC, CMP, UA and EBV comprehensive panel which total at about $250 with the phlebotomist fees.
I am also back and forth to St Christopher's hospital with my son who has hypotonia. The family doctor says one thing "he has hypotonia" the nuerologist says "he has slight hypotonia" his physical therapist says he has hypotonia on his left side due to the umblical cord being double wrapped around his neck during birth. Not one of them does any tests until they got together thursday and set him up for an MRI on his brain which was done today. Meanwhile the boy just keeps working at standing on his own and trying to walk and making progress. he is 14 months old and has about a 18 word vocabulary and does not seem to be behind in cognitive development at all. He aslo has anterior anus which causes him some discomfort and straining even on enulose a laxative for lack of a better word. Thankfully he has Health Insurance through his mother's insurance policy.

Hi, Greg.

So much for the "safety net". Just think, the current administration is giving back an average of $100/taxpayer, rather than helping folks like you. It makes me sick!

My best advice right now for both you AND your son would be a whole foods diet. See Beth's book as to how to do that. Costs a LOT less than $250 & will do a LOT more good.

Who's Beth and where do I find her Book

I am not familiar with beth and her book
Is it okay for a 14 month old to change to this diet
Where do you shop for the foods that are undoubtedly better for us?
Also, I suffer from hyperhydrosis. Its the worst when I first get out of the shower and then for about 2 hours after. It then subsides gradually. My underarms and my feet are the worst affected it does not smell unless of couse I'm wearing sneakers but the underarm doesn't smell its almost like water. How would you treat that. It causes my feet to break out in an eczema like condition that itches ungodly and then gets all broken up and dried and then gets wet and itchy again. I am treating the symptom by trying to keep them dry and clean but i would rather treat the problem.
Thank You
i am supposedly getting back to work next week unless they want to do more surgery to remove scar tissue.

Greg.

I thought it would be impossible for anyone to read anything about a whole foods diet, candida, amazon.com, sugar addiction, etc, without finding the reference as to how to find her book. "The Healing Power of Whole Foods" by Beth Loiselle, RD. (800) 870-5378.

This would be the healthiest possible diet for a 14 year old and is the solution to many behavioral and learning disabilities that occur at this age. Results begin in just a week or so and the diet gets much easier the longer one does it, However, 14 year olds already know everything and you will find it very hard to convince one to follow it.

Hi, Greg.

MY ERROR! I read it wrong. This diet is perfect for a 14 month old and, glory be, at least is it very easy at this age. Just do not offer him anything BUT. He will very soon prefer it (a week or so so long as he is not tempted by junk in the meantime).

Let us know how he does.

Walt
