Dear Stephanie,

I hope you will forgive my jumping in here but you really need to know WHY you have this chronic problem before you have a chance of dealing with it.

People don't have this EVER unless their immune system is stressed or low in reserves. Your herpes is but a warning your body is trying to give you that you had better do something about your immunity. If you do not hear THIS message, your body will have to come up with something more serious to get your attention.

Dear Laura,

Fifty grams of intravenous vitamin C, daily, for3-4 days routinely stops this condition in its tracks. From the usual 6 weeks of disability, it routinely is gone within a week.

This has been known for at least 20 years. Why is it not the standard of therapy?

This is one of the reasons I wrote my book. Not only is it not necessary to become susceptible to this very weak virus, even a reasonably healthy immune system would make short work of it. Of course, lots of people think that these kinds of illnesses just jump out & grab any passerby & there is nothing one can do about it. That is propaganda by the conventional medical monopoly designed to keep the entire population dependent upon us MDs for disease care. Of course, we call it health care when it is nothing of the sort.

Call ACAM for the physician closest to you who would likely know how to do this for him: (800) 532-3688.

Then, as he gets well, please share your experiences with us here on the BB. Others need this informati on in their files so they don't have to go through what he is going through. Remember, too, all illness is an opportunity for growth. What will he learn from this?

I was just diagnosed with EBV after a bout with mono. I was having some health problems before that which are now being linked with the EBV. One of the problems, I have not had a cycle in over three months and am not pregnant, they are not sure if it is linked. If you have any knowledge of this please inform I just want to know if there is another health condition that needs to be addressed or if it is all intertwined. Thank you in advance for your help.

Dear Chris,

I have recently posted what I would do several times here on the BB. To save you time looking it up, I will briefly do it again.

Fifty grams of intravenous vitamin C, daily, for about 4 days has invariably resolved this in my patients. Call ACAM at (800) 532-3688 for the closest physician who would be likely familiar with this remedy.

THEN, I would recommend your daughter read my book so she wouldn't have to go through a similar problem in the future (see link on this page). However, at this age she probably is not interested in a healthy lifestyle. One can only hope that she has suffered enough to make her interested.

Dear Matt,

I finally found a 'puter system that I could access the board with. You are the first one I am trying to answer. If this doesn't work, I guess you will just have to ask again after November 2nd. Already I can see that this system isn't wrapping at the margin. I hope you can read it.

Anyhow, to answer your question the best I can:

Remember, the EBV is the cause of mononucleosis. If you will recall, this has traditionally been called the "kissing disease" NOT the intercourse disease. Unless you both wore masks you are DEFINITELY exposed.

NOW comes the lesson for the day. The reason mono was called the kissing disease is that the virus is so weak that only VERY close contact can transmit it AND THEN ONLY TO SOMEONE VERY SUSCEPTIBLE.

You REALLY should read my book. It is time for you to become knowledgable enough to not have to ask questions like you did. Once you learn how to improve your immunity, you will have a lot less worries.

I really appreciate your question, though, sinc e it gave me a chance to help others understand this whole process.

Please read a response to this same kind of question that I wrote today to a question posted onOctober 12th. As you can see from the note at the top of the page, I am on a speaking tour. It doesn't matter how long someone has clung to this disease, the IV vitamin C works just as well.

As he gets over this, please share his experience with the BB participants since this is becoming a very common problem. There are a lot of others out there who are also suffering needlessly.

If he gets interested in improving his immunity so things like this don't happen to him in the future, he should read a copy of my book to get started!

Dear Theresa,

This is a great example of how these things work. The accident pushed him over his immunological cliff & now, he can't get back up without help.

Certainly massage woud help; especially a whole body therapeutic (& deep) massage about 3 times a week for several weeks.

HOWEVER, having said that, we both know that keeping that up would not be a permanent solution. HE HAS TO LEARN AN EFFECTIVE SKILLED RELAXATION TECHNIQUE & PRACTICE IT 20 MINUTES TWICE A DAY FOR AT LEAST 6-12 MONTHS. Then, I think he would be crazy to not keep it up at least once a day for life. For this to have happened to him he has to have a genetic susceptibility fot this kind of thing. If he doesn't do preventive work, it will just happen again.

This is something YOU cannot do for HIM. He has to decide he has suffered enough & decide to learn enough to get out of his hole. If he does not, his productive life is essentially over. My book would be a good place for him to start (link below). If he is not willing t o even do that, nothing either one of us can do will amount to a hill of beans. You will just have to love him like he is.

Your massage, applied as above, would serve to convince him that he doesn't have to feel this way. That would be a good way for him to learn the relaxation (see book).

He needs to be seen by a complementary medical practitioner who knows enough to go beyond the narrow paradigm of we allopathic practitioners.

If I knew what part of the country you were from, I might know someone personally who could help you a lot more than you have apparently been helped so far.

In the meantime, I would recommend some reading for you:

1. "Is This Your Child?" by Doris Rapp, MD

2. Call the International Health Foundation at (901) 427-8100 and ask them for information as well as practitioners close to where you live.

As he gets well, please share yur experiences with us here on the BB since this is becoming a much more common problem & others deserve to know that they do not have to wait till things get worse for a physician limited by the conventional medical monopoly to begin to make a diagnosis.

Dear Ron,

I have had a number of people from Australia order the book. It seems that the most convenient way is to send a money order for $15 (US funds) to the publisher at Sunrise Health Coach, Box #12091, Panama City, Florida 32401-9091. Or, you can save time by calling me at my home at (850) 747-8669 & using a Visa, Master Charge or Discover card since they cross international borders. The extra $2 is for the additional postage to "down under". If you should decide to do the discount order (4, or more, copies for $5/copy and no charge for shipping & handling), you would have to add $4 to the total because of the additional cost of shipping that distance. That would still come out to $6/copy with no charge for shipping & handling for a 200 page book--not too bad.

You could contact Functional Medicine Update (which has many members in Australia) at box 1729 Gig Harbor, Washington 98335, (206) 851-3943. Or you could even try their (800) 843-9660 number although I understand that (800) numbers do not cross international borders. I would ask them for Australian subscribers & start your search there.

You might also contact ACAM at 23121 Verdugo Drive #204, Laguna Hills, California 92653, (714) 583-7666. Or you could try their (800) 532-3688 number (see above). This would be the most direct way of finding members close to you who would know how to do this.

Let us know what happens.

Walt

EBV is infections but only to those whose immunity is so compromised that they can catch a very weak virus that requires VERY close contact to transmit it. I would not worry, personally, about getting it if I lived in a pool of pure virus up to my nostrils.

First of all, I am sure you mean "conventional meds" instead of "traditional meds". Traditional medicine is what has been practiced for the past 40,000,000 years. Conventional medicine is what has been practiced in this country for the past 100 years & now is finally being proven to be inadequate for the diseases of civilization. Why do you think alternatives are becoming so popular???

If you will take the time to use the search engine for this BB & read everything about EBV or epstein barr virus or chronic epstein barr (all names for the same thing) you will get more information than you want just by reading what has been written on this BB over the past few months. Dear Debbie,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Certainly, one of the most common contributing causes of EBV symptoms are parasites. Of course, you know that one cannot GET parasites without first having leaky gut symdrome.

What I have been trying to get people to consider is that just getting rid of the symptoms of EBV will NEVER be the answer to what the bodymind is trying to tell our consciousness. Dealing with the causitive mechanisms is what your bodymind is trying to get you to do with the message of EBV.

Now, while you are feeling great, is the time to take some of your extra energy & become a student of your entire system's function.

By the way, after years of denying that parasites have anything to do with many of the chronic symptoms we MDs make so much money treating, even the conventional medical community now admits that at least 50% of the population is carrying one or more disease causing parasites. The true statistics are about 85% of the entire population. Nearly every person w ith chronic symptoms has at least one disease causing parasite that is undiagnosed. The article in the 11/17/97 Newsweek about LGS is one example of the rapidly cracking wall of denial about all this by the conventional medical monopoly.

This is probably a good place for me to post my note. As one who HAS purchased and read your book and put your advice into practice, I just want to wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you. I am enjoying my return to health, and I would encourage anyone with degenerative disease to look into your book and Beth Loiselle's book (The Healing Power of Whole Foods) which is a great help in putting the "perfect" plan into effect.

I will say that is has not been easy. Any one looking for quick and easy answers or for a doctor to be sucked into their neurosis is on the wrong bulletin board. I really appreciate your direct, no nonsense replies, Walt. The more I "lurk," the more I understand.

And how do I know that you are not just tying to make a fast buck off your book? Actually, I hope you are making some money, you deserve it, but besides the fact that your book puts the onus on the patient, (which is not a popular notion among many who want to be cured by someone else) I notice that:
1. It is not on Oprah's list,
2. You have not offered to make me a multilevel marketer, and
3. You did not mention sex or money on the cover.

As an unscrupulous profiteer, you are a bust. Sorry to have to be so blunt, but it's a fact. As a caring physician and a champion of true healing, however, you are a star among the few. I am so happy to have encountered you while you are still doing this.

Jim

p.s.
Any sincere folks out there who would like to contact me directly about my experiences, or for support in maintaining a whole food diet, use my email. I’ll be happy to share.

Dear Donna,

If you bothered to read many of my posts, you would know that I make no money from my book.

People like you who KNOW that they already know everything have a lot worse problem than EBV.

Dear Jim,

Thanks! I needed that! It is because of people like you that I keep trying to get the word out.

People like Donna remind me of a definition of insanity: "Doing the same thing over & over & expecting a different outcome."

If I have a hundred people like Donna (who insist on refusing a solution staring her in the face), and one like you who actually will try to use the information, it makes everything worth while.

Namaste` Walt

My 15 year old neice was just diagnosed with EBV. I am trying to find out information regarding this virus. If you can forward any information about how it is contracted, diagnosed, treated, etc. I would appreciate it.

Dear Jennifer,

There IS no treatment for EBV other than the individual learning the stuff we have been talking about here on the internet for the past 5 years. That is why most physicians say "go home & live with it". They KNOW they have no effective treatment.

Use the search feature of this BB & read everything you can find about EBV or Chronic Epstein Barr Syndrome (both names for the same thing). You will learn perhaps more than you want to know.

The symptoms of EBV do not come from the virus. If you both want to know what IS causing both the virus susceptibility AND the symptoms, you both need to read "Mind as Healer, Mind as Slayer" by Dr Pelletier.

Then, when SHE is ready to become a student of her own condition, write again. Neither of us can solve this for her.

Dear Shari,

My first suggestion would be to gain a deeper understanding of what is causing your symptoms--it is NOT the EBV, which is just a lab test caused by the same things that ARE causing the rest of your symptoms.

Toward that end, my first suggestion is to read a copy of my book (link below). All the rest of the resources you need are listed in the back of the book. You need what is in the book to figure out which resource you need. I WOULD like to call you attention to one in particular since it was written about you: "Mind as Healer, Mind as Slayer" by Dr Pelletier.

THEN, if you still have more questions, please share them with the rest of us here on the BB.

Walt

Dear Vicki,

It appears you've come to the right place. Here is the reply Dr. Stoll made to Anu, in case you didn't see it. Check out the home page and Dr. Stoll's book. I have read it, and it is a treasure of information.

Jim

"Dear Anu,

Read "Brain Allergies" by William Philpott, MD. It has just come out as a new edition. You will find
yourself in there.

THEN, when you are convinced that the book was written about you, it is time for you to get a
copy of MY little 200 page book (link below) so you can begin to appreciate the causes behind this
phenomenon.

Those causes explain ALL of the things you mentioned in your note.

Klebsiella can only happen in people with LGS. It does not cause it, it is the result of it. However,
once Klebsiella escapes from your control, it makes the preexisting LGS worse.

Once you get the above information under your belt, write again for any questions you might have.

Walt"
