Can anyone find the original research from the University of Michigan Medical School (late '70s to early '80s) regarding emphysema patients improving from rebounding? Walt writes of this in his article on this site, stating that the information was since suppressed. I thought that if I did some searching on-line, I would find SOME reference to emphysema and rebounding, but I was wrong.
Rosemarie, do you have any rebounding books that speak of this?
Anybody? Thanks - I need this for the book.

KMD I have a copy of "The golden seven plus one" By C. Samuel West which I think is one of the better rebounding books around. It was copyrighted in 1981 and it may mention something about this .I know that West did most of his studies in Canada. If you can find this book it may help you. In the mean time i will scan it and see if it mentions anything about what you are looking for if you want me to. Good luck

Thanks Dave, I'd appreciate if you'd look in your book for anything on emphysema!

Hi Vince, there is someone named Carter but I wasn't able to find any research on the net about emphysema being helped by rebounding. The only links that kept popping up in the search were links to this (Walt's) site and article. In other words, Walt is the only reference to this I can find. I'm looking for the original report OR any new findings that support it. When Walt said the findings had been suppressed, he wasn't kidding! I guess I still thought that any rebounding-promotion companies would have gotten their hands on it somehow.

KMD, as you know AL Carter was one of the original pioneers in this field. I got his book "Miracles of Rebound Exercise" (1979) from the library some time ago and he seemed to cover just about any type of illness as well as testimonials. Don't remember emphysema specifially but it is universally agreed, that rebounding helps ANY condition because of it's special effect on the lymphatic system. He has an updated version now "The New Miracles of Exercise". Why not get both from your library and check it out. He also has a website: http://www.healthbounce.com/aboutus.htm

His website was one of several I found last evening before I posted. I'm not interested at this point in learning everything about rebounding, but only in that study/report that was done over 20 years ago (or any since) that specifically show that rebounding helps emphysema. Thanks though, I'll look for his book at the library. I doubt it mentions it however judging from everything I've found so far.
I wasn't sure if you saw my response to your juicer question. Anyway, good luck in finding what you need. I think the Omega 8001 is great for leafy greens. It even juices wheat grass (which I've not tried).

In Reply to: There is an article on Carter's website that specifically talks about Emphysema. (nmi) posted by Peter B on May 08, 2001 at 11:04:57:
All I saw was the mention on the left side column, and it had a link which when clicked, brought me right back to Walt's article again. Is there more that I missed?

kmd,
Yes, I thot you missed it. I notice Walt's brief mentions an original study, obviously the one you want. I'm about to get a rebounder for my mom. Sorry I don't know more about the study/article. Take care.

Hi - I just found an article I copied from Alternative Medicine.com, dated 8/21/00, which talks about rebounding and health. There is no mention of emphysema, but it does talk about the fact that rebounding improves breathing in children with Cystic Fibrosis. The study was done in Norway, and they learned that "two of the children with the most advanced lung problems increased their oxygen intake from 45 to 49 ml/kgminute." Thought perhaps you could go to this site and find the article and maybe information on the study done on emphysema patients.

Thanks, Raisa.
The same process that helps cystic fibrotic children would also, logically, help emphysema.
Namaste`
