After reading The Tao of Physics, I find the ideas in Lynne McTaggart's The Field quite easy to grasp (at least the parts that I've covered so far. And thanks, Sue, for suggesting this book!) It further develops quantum mechanics and subatomic theory to include the area of the human body, mind, health, and healing. I find it more convincing than many other books because of its scientific perspective, its well documented citations and references, and the clarity of the writing style. A book truly well worth reading.
Here are some passages from this book, (on page VIII):
"For a number of decades respected scientists in a variety of disciplines all over the world have been carrying out well-desgined experiments whose results fly in the face of current biology and physics. Together, these studies offer us copious information about the central organizing force governing our bodies and the rest of the cosmos.
What they have discovered is nothing less than astonishing. At our most elemental, we are not a chemical reaction, but an energic charge. Human beings and all living things are a coalescence of energy in a field of energy connected to every other thing in the world. This pulsating energy field is the central engine of our being and our consciousness, the alpha and the omega of our existence.
There is no "me" and "not-me" duality to our bodies in relation to the universe, but one underlying energy field. This field is responsible for our mind's highest functions, the information source guiding the growth of our bodies. It is our brain, our heart, our memory--indeed, a blue print of the world for all time. The field is the force, rather than germs or genes, that finally determines whether we are healthy or ill, the force which must be tapped in order to heal. We are attached and engaged, indivisible from our world, and our only fundamental truth is our relationship with it. 'The field,' as Einstein once succinctly put it, 'is the only reality.'"

Thanks, Bing.
The cosmos is very differeent from what we have been led to believe.

Hi Bing,
You might enjoy the book "Science, Sense & Soul" by Casey Blood, Ph.D. Have you heard of it?

Good to hear from you again, ktj, and thanks for suggesting the book. No, I haven't heard of this book, but the title sounds interesting enough to check it out. Have you read it? And why is it good?

Yes, I read it a few months ago. The author is a Sufi Master and a physicist--very interesting! From the jacket: "He paints a world picture in which quantum physics is not only compatible with mysticism but also gives us a deeper understanding of spiritual matters. For Dr. Blood, three diverse disciplines---quantum physics, neuroscience, and mysticism--rather than being in conflict, give a unified picture of human existence. Together they show that the spiritual world has an immense effect on what happens here and now. And they suggest that spiritual practices can enable society to match human aspirations."

Thanks, ktj. From what you quoted from the dustjacket, it sounds very much like the kind of books I've been reading and enjoying. So I probably WILL read it after I finish The Field. It's really fascinating to see how quantum physics opens its doors to spirituality, providing possible explanations to things that have been considered mystical/supernatural. Gosh, I don't even know where to start to tell you how my perceptions of the world, of the universe, of people, and of me have changed, dramatically, over the last few months (as a matter of fact, ever since we first talked about spirituality in that long thread several months ago). It's almost like that talk, together with other things happening in my life, has played an important role in opening a brand new world for me. Now, looking back and thinking about what we discussed earlier surely brings back good memories. You, I, and thessa (and a few others) had such a great time sharing our lives, our thoughts, and our minds together. :)
Best wishes to you, ktj; take care.

I agree, it's very exciting--science and spirituality coming together!
It's wonderful to hear that you are enjoying your spiritual journey. Once undertaken, it's impossible to turn back.
I would be very interested in hearing about your new perceptions. I can't post an email address here, but I could do a p.o. box. What do you think?

Sure, ktj, "snail mail" is fine with me, too, if you can post your p.o.box address. Thanks!
