BDC question for Walt

Posted by Jan DeCourtney, CMT (Happygal) [7244.2856] on July 22, 2008 at 16:13:33:

Hey Walt,

In the chatper about stress, you say:

"To appreciate how it feels to be free of electromagnetic stressors, just make yourself a chicken-wire Faraday Cage and sit in it for 15-20 minutes. While you are inside, you will have no doubt that some kind of burden has been temporarily removed. If that doesn’t impress you, just wait and see what you notice when you exit the cage. (I do not recommend testing food allergies without close medical supervision.)"

Why do people need close medical supervision to try to test food allergies in a Faraday Cage?

Thanks and Namaste`
Jan

Hi Walt,

Then you go on to say (describing chicken wire that is sold 2 to 8 feet wide), The narrower widths are easier to work with, depending on how large a cage you are making.

Could you please give some details? What size cage should a person buy 2' wide and how big to be more efficient buying 8'?

Thanks and namaste`

Hi Jan,

You could use a big closet to build your Faraday cage.
The different panels of wire need to be slightly overlapped and soldered together at least every 6 inches

Do not forget that the mesh has to be grounded to a copper water pipe with a couple of heavy #6 cables or heavier.
For this reason, it might be easier to set up in the
basement.
If you take a radio inside with you, you should be unable to receive any AM or FM stations if it is working
as it should.

Hi, Jan.

The fewer "distractions" one is exposed to when testing for ANY environmental stressor, the more accurate will be the observations. Of course, one must select a clinician who thoroughly understands environmental stressors--including the effect of the Faraday Cage upon the system.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Jan,

Depends upon how large a space the individual wants to shield. Ron has some good ideas.

Ron, does the wire have to be soldered? Can it just be 'sewn' together with pieces of wire?

I have always been curious about Faraday cages...would love to try one!

Hi Labrat,

Soldered is fine... clamped is ok too, but
more expensive for the clamps.

The main thing is that if the radio works inside
the cage, it is not blocking radio signals or other
interferrence..

Of course, being in it for a few hours is completely
negated by sitting at the computer for a much shorter time.

I would think it would be almost like SR - that you would have some residual benefit from it and maybe be able to handle the "outside" world better after taking a rest from it.

One of these days, I'll cobble one together and see what happens!

What is a #6 cable?

This is very interesting!

Sorry, Walt.

I still don't get it.

When you say people need medical supervision, it sounds so serious!

You gave the example of corn allergy, that people outside the cage had it, inside the cage they didn't have it, went back outside, had it again.

I think it would be hard to test allergies inside the cage -- seems to me you'd have to be in there for several days because sometimes people don't have their allergic reactions right after they eat something.

But I still don't understand the part about medical supervision.

Thanks and namaste`

Jan,

The first study I saw about that was from England. I do not have much trouble imagining a Faraday Cage large enough for the laboratory testing mecessary with lots of professionals inside. To do such a study, I do not see why the patient being tested could not live in the cage for months is necessary.

I wish you could hve been a "fly on the wall" at the meeting in Dallas where the research was presented by the researchers. As I recall, it was 1980-1985 (about clinical ecology).
