What to take for a sore back....HELP AGAIN

Another question. What do you take when your back acts up on you. I've been given Viodin, nerve pills etc. But is there anything that works good for you. I have a bad disc, as most everyone is this world, and it acts up on me once in awhile. Thanks

I had an MRI showing buldging disks in my back. I could not immediatley stand from a sitting position, and in the mornings my life was hell for the first half hour. After wasting money at a sports rehab and taking the same meds you have been prescribed (for about 6 months), I went to an accupuncturist.

Current condition of my back after two intensive treatments: no more back pain! I exercize and jog, can drive on vacations, and even *ahem*, all without pain. It's been almost four months since my initial treatment and I cannot tell I have ever had any problems at all.

I was told by someone that US doctors are tested on only 100 points and that Chinese doctors are tested on 3,000 points.

I told a friend of mine that is she couldn't find a referral, to go to the nearest Chinese restaurant for dinner and ask the owners who they go to!

Hydrocodone is a dangerous drug IMO, and if you must take something for pain relief until this is resolved, I would ask my doctor for an anti-inflamitory and only take half of the Vicodin as needed.

Take care, Sandy, and I do hope you find some relief.

Hi Sandy,

The first thing to do is, of course, use ice on your back. I usually recommend 20 minutes on 40 off. "The first 20 minutes of every hour".

I also recommend any product that has Manganese, B12 and Chondroitin. Chondro Plus by Biotics is execellent. Take 2 per hour until the pain abates then one or two per meal every day will help your back heal to lessen the chances of this happening again.

If you feel it is inflammed, (most likely) proteolytic enzymes taken on an empty stomach will help very much. Intenzyme from Biotics is fantastic. Take 10 tabs first, then, 5 every 4 hours.

Good luck,

Doc Kim

Thanks, CT, for reminding us about the effectiveness of acupuncture.

This is becoming standard treatment by holistic vets for our animals. The only reason it is not routinely recommended for humans is that the AMA has egg on it's face for resisting it so long.

I have been searching to find a source of the appropriate MANGANESE to take as I too have several painful disks. I used to be able to find this mineral in even the grocery stores, but can no longer. Could someone advise me of the strength I should take, and where I might possibly find it? I discovered years ago that raw english peas are rich in Manganese, and when I can find them in the summer, I eat them like a pig-out. I do NOT have back trouble during this time. There is something in MANGANESE that is vital for me.
