Do you ever recommend taking birth control pills? A year ago I went to my gynecologist because I was growing hair on my face and hands. He diagnosed Polycystic Ovary Syndrome based on my LH/FSH ratio. Testosterone was OK. I had acne then but it has cleared up since. I am also menstruating normally. I seem to be growing slightly more hair lately. He wanted me to take a birth control pill but I decided not to beacuse I was afraid of Candida. Would I be better off on the pill? Would you recommend any other tests? My DO/Allergist offers a Female Hormone profile from Great Smokies, but it doesn't sound like it measures the same things as the gynecologist did.

I have the same question. I am currently battling Candida and seem to be having a hard time with the diet, I am able to stay with it ok, but I am not losing weight like I should be. I have just started my skilled relaxation. I am currently on birth control pills, should I stop taking them? Will I be happier with my progress if I do? I will be going to see my GYN on December 6, should I ask about an IUD? I am 26 and considering having children in the next couple of years. I don't know anything about IUD's can I have it removed at any time?

Hi, Dawn.
Too late! You already have candida. I am saying that a little bit with tongue in cheek since you may be the first person I have ever been in contact with whose "polycystic ovary" was not due to candida. So far, every case I have found, since I learned about candida, has cleared up by dealing with the candida.
The polycystic problem causes hirsutism all by itself. BC pills will help some POs. However they are, at best, just another bandaid.
All of your symptoms & diagnoses are caused by the overwhelming stress-effect storage in the hypothalamus we discuss nearly every day on this 'site. To resolve everything, you are going to have to go to the cause.

Dear Robin,
Since the skilled relaxation is the most important single thing for you to do, I am not surprised that you are still "struggling" with stuff. You would be amused and benefitted by going to the notes, within the past month, about those who do the most important thing last.
If I had candida, I would have an IUD.
NOW is the time for you (and your husband) to read Paavo Airola, ND's classic "Every Woman's Book". A new printing is out & is available from Amazon.com as well as in any library & bookstore. This process needs to be started at least 2 years prior to conception----IF you want the healthiest baby & pregnancy possible. Fortunately, those concepts are also those that would help you finally put the candida in the past. Getting pregnant while having candida is like playing russian roulette.

My docoor recommended birth control pills for hot flashs. I take 200 mg. of dilantin per day. The hot flashs seemed to get better, but am I just wasting time taking these because the dilantin cancels the estrogen out of the birth control pill? The ones I am taking are called Alesse 28 that are samples from her office. They are the kind that have two different pills to take throughout the month. I am spotting, which she said is ok if I do not mind. Could you comment on the effectiveness of this for menopause? Sincerely, Yvonne Kosanda
