Blood chemistry - I really need help here!

During the course of our infertility treatments, my husband was found to be sterile. A urologist said that there was no hope for us - he had never produced sperm and his testicles felt "soft" and "abnormal". He ordered up blood tests which he said would prove his point.

Well the blood tests all came back strange. He says we are to see a specialist, since "with numbers like these, you shouldn't even have normal sexual function." In other words, my husband shouldn't even be able to get erect and ejeculate! He most certainly can, which has our urologist, and our GP, confused.

So anyway, my husband is supposed to see this specialist to see if his hormone levels can be brought back into line. My questions are:

1 - What kind of changes will we see if his hormones are "corrected"? Right now he is very impatitent, has trouble concentrating on anything for long periods of time and is genreally frustrated with his lack of patience. Will this improve?

2 - He was diagnosed as ADD while in high school. Could this have been a misdiagnosis due to these hormones being out of whack?

3 - He has severe acne on his face that 2 dermotoligists were never able to clear up. (My husband is 26). Could this be a symptom of his hormone problem?

His test score were as follows:

Testosterone (reference range 241-827): 138

FSH, serum (reference range 1.00 - 8.00): 36.54

LH (reference range 2.00 - 12.00): 23.33

Prolactin (reference range 1.61 - 10.77): 10.31

Please help!

I just wanted to add that the urologist did tell us that the specialist will not be able to correct his sterility by mucking around with his hormones. So I'm not concerned about that (we are now adopting). I just need my previous questions answered, if possible.

Thanks again!

Hi, Holly.

His best chance lies in a book by Paavo Airola, ND: "Every Woman's Book" (available through the link to amazon.com on this 'site). Within 2 years of following the wisdom in this book, if he still has not improved his sperm count to normal (and those tests as well), you both better start adoption proceedings.

Let us know how he does and if, after reading this stuff, he has any questions.

Walt
