Re: Any problems stopping hormone replacement therapy?

I am 48 years old with a history of no periods (ovaries not developed & no eggs, problem with estrogen production). For this reason the Dr. suggested HRT five years ago. I've had migraine headaches as well (avg. 1 per months for 12 hour cycle). Day four out of ten of the provera I usually experience an episode, or two days after stopping the provera. In addition during those 10 days I'm irritable, have difficulty moving bowels, bloated, tired and emotional, my hair and nails dry. Other than a significant increase in my bra size I can't name a single visibile perk of taking the HRT and I don't know how to measure the estrogen benefits attributed to this system. I stopped the system May 1 to test how I felt but one month has not been sufficient because I got sick while traveling. I had one minor hint of a migraine but was able to abort it quickly. In general I also feel better in summer weather. My Doctor said she thinks it is a bad idea that would do more harm than good. Do you have any information or clinical proof that would support her concerns? Tx Mary

Dear Mary,

All I can tell you is that, were I in your situation, I would drop the progesterone & take the conjugated estrogens. From you life-long history, you probably need the smallest dosage (0.3 milligrams) from the first to the 21st of each month.

I would be VERY surprised if you had any untoward symptoms from that and that would certainly help the most with all the things HRT is supposed to do.

Listen to your body. Use what makes you feel good & question that which makes you feel worse!

Now, having said that, you should becdome a serious student of "wellness". use the link:
How to be Healthy. Of course there are extensive protocols & references in my book about this (link on this page).

To whom it may concern:

I was having very heavy periods because of a fibroid tumor. I used castor oil packs (as recommended in an Edgar Casey book - 'drugless therapy' ) and my periods lightened up the following month - it was so easy and it worked I just had to share this.

I was reading that 50% of all women in the south end up getting historectomies - for reasons like heavy periods. I feel so greatfull that this simple solution has worked for me.

Thanks, Sara!

This works for a lot of people. It can do no harm, is VERY inexpensive and is direct competition to the conventional medical monopoly. I think every person with any liver problems OR endocrinological problems (the uterus is an endocrine organ as is the liver) should consider trying this first. What do they have to lose?

hormone replacement therapy

Dear Dr Stoll,
My mother is 67 years old, in very good health except for arthritic-type pain, probably made worse because she is over-weight. Recently, her dr. presribed HRT [ a new treatment, I'm not sure I can mention the name]just to prevent osteoporosis. Is this safe/necessary? Can you suggest a more natural treatment? Thank you in advance. Kim
