Hey Mike,

I am a 20 yr old female and i have suffered from floaters for over 5 years. I have them in both eyes!!! I do not know how long you have had them, but for the most part i do not notice them as much anymore unless i think about them. Eventually, you just learn to live with them. I understand how annoying they are!! But hopefully, you will learn to just ignore them. Goodluck!

I also have floaters and at times have had "flashers" along with the floaters (when they first developed).

I was told that the more you read, the more you'll see them. It's like a toy that has a Santa with water surrounding it, you tip it upside-down and then rightside-up and you get "snow" falling down on Santa's head. Similar idea with floaters. I read a lot so I've got snow falling even in summer :)

My guess would be you need to meditate to quiet your mind. The tone of your post suggests a lot of tension. Aerobic exercise and weight training would also be very helpful. So would drinking lots of spring water. Oh, one more thing, if you listen regularily to hard rock (discordant and loud) music, that will increase your tension exponentially! So does watching the evening news, especially late in the eve.

Hope this helps,
Mary

Will you describe "flashers"?

Thanks, Dahlimama

Flashers are men or women who wear long coats with nothing underneath and then open them up for just a second as you look out the window while your bus pulls away from the stop.
They're very distracting.

SR may be a good way to get your mind off them for sure. I have never tried it so i dont know for sure. In my left eye i have a black floater and few little other ones, some clear some black, but i can only really see them if i squint. The right eye is the annoying one. It looks like a snow flake type and is quite big!!

Hi, Mike (and everyone).

Floaters are coagulated proteins and are totally harmless in the eye. HOWEVER, they ARE an indication that this is happening everywhere in the body and the eye is just the easiest place to notice them. It is a case of "out of sight, out of mind" that we do not take them seriously.

There are "wash out" procedures that would temporarily remove them but they would recur unless protein metabolism is drastically improved.

Wellness is the best way I know of to DO that.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Dr. Stoll there is an herbal rememdy that I have seen that is for the eye, it says that you get the herbs, and you have to simmer them, and then use the juice, on your eyes? is this safe, here is the site if you want to check it out, I would really like your opinion

Thanks, Mike.

Wellness (which includes SR) will help prevent new ones. I have never seen anyone who could get rid of them with SR.

The procedure includes putting a needle into the anterior chanber of the eye and using it to flush out the floaters by repeatedly injecting saline in and sucking it out. The floaters are randomly sucked out intil the anterior chamber is free of them. Simple, safe and done under local.

Hi, Mike.

I have no idea. I am not an Herbologist. I would really be interested in hearing from anyone who resolved floaters this way.

Hi Mike - here is a discussion board about floaters that I found while searching about my own floaters.

"Floater Talk" - there are some sections on Vitrectomy.

Hope this will provide some more help! Be sure to link back to the main site at http://www.floaters.net/fworld.html too.

Not bad, and quite livable. They are sort of light and stringy, not dark and they tend to fade from consciousness unless I focus on them. Last year, a bigger, dark one appeared that freaked me out, but it hasn't changed in a long while, so I'm not so concerned any more. Fortunately it's on the edge of my field of vision so it doesn't bother me much.

The eye doctor said to be on the lookout for any sudden increase in floaters, which can mean imminent retinal detachment. In which case you get to the doctor pronto. Otherwise I can live with 'em. For those who have 'em bad - I completely understand (well, maybe not really, either). good luck!

I said "ophthalmologist" not "optometrist".
